So many people like to say that the whump community is inherently toxic and horrible and blah blah blah but honestly, this community has some of nicest people I think I'll ever meet. Not a day has gone by where I haven't felt the love and I think that's just. super cool

"I bet you're a coward deep down."

The words are strained, but biting. Strangled by the wheezing in their lungs, the whumpee nevertheless looks up at the whumper, teeth bared in a mirthless smile.

The whumper raises an eyebrow. "Oh?"

"You wouldn't last five minutes of the shit you're putting me through. If...if we switched places...I'd have you begging by now..."

Shuddering, the whumpee looses the strength to hold up their head. The whumper lifts it for them, looking down into feirce, but worn eyes.

"Well," they say softly, "it's a good thing I'm the one in charge then, isn't it?"

Whumpers who take things a bit too far and then have to frantically administer first aid as they try to stop Whumpee from bleeding out.

Then the immense guilt they feel after they finally got Whumpee stable, looking down at the blood on their hands and clothes.

Proudly presenting: The Whump Community Directory!

Finding new blogs to follow - especially blogs with your favourite types of content - can be tricky.

But that’s why I’ve set up the Whump Community Directory, a new blog and database made so that bloggers in the community can let others know about their content, and so that you can search for exactly the types of whump you want more of!

The Directory listings are entirely user-generated, so you’ll need to add your blog details yourself if you would like it to appear, using this handy form. You can add as many or as few details as you’d like!

If you’d like to edit or remove your listing from the database, just fill in the form here.

Reblogs of this post are appreciated to spread the word!

Whump Misc. 2

Inspired by yours truly

- Whumpee being strapped down to a medical table, while they trash about, scream, and panic

- A Whumpee with bad eyesight being forced to travel without aid, combing their hands hopelessly through the air, stumbling over anything and everything

- Caretaker hurrying to help a distraught Whumpee that walked straight into a glass door

- Whumpee vs. unending itchy skin

- Whumpee who cannot swim, being thrown into the worst situation possible for that trait

- Whumpee doubling over in pain as soon as someone looked away

- The uh-oh Whumpee just accidentally hit Whumper moment

- Ace Whumpee

- Matted Hair

Dialogue Edition: Caretaker

- “Have you always looked this tired?”

- “Wow… You look exhausted.”

- “Your arms are so thin.”

- “Just let me comb your hair!”

- “You’ve lost even more weight.”

- “You’re burning up”

- “Hello? Earth to Whumpee.”

- “When was the last time you got a full night’s rest” “>:3″ “Whumpee no!”

Nightmare Edition

- Whumpee hyperventilating in their sleep, before they even wake from a nightmare

- Whumpee pleading in their sleep

- Caretaker getting latched onto or attacked as Whumpee comes to

- It’s too tedious or dangerous to sleep next to Whumpee

- Sleep walking Whumpee

in light of many whump blogs getting troll anons saying whump writers should be “locked up in a mental hospital” (i got one too but deleted it and declined to respond), i just wanted to make a post informing people that mental hospitals are NOT helpful institutions, at least in the united states. (i am not well-informed about how mental hospitals work in other countries.) they are exploitative and do not provide treatment. mental hospitals are, when working as advertised, for short-term crisis care (this is code for “locking you up in a building”). you do not receive therapy in a mental hospital (i got 30 min of therapy during my 10-day forced institutionalization). if you are looking for help with mental illness, there are many resources available, but a mental hospital is not the solution.

many mental hospitals end up doing much more harm than good, as patients are put in a situation where we are powerless and at the mercy of uncaring or even abusive staff. this goes TRIPLE for patients of any minority group, especially transgender patients. please stay safe.

^ This. I work as a public defender in the mental health division, fighting against petitions for involuntary hospitalization. The system is completely fucked. Hospitals routinely victim-blame my clients, arguing that they need to be locked up “for their own good” just in case someone decides to assault or exploit them. They ignore crucial aspects of clients’ trauma histories and attribute pretty much everything to psychosis. And that doesn’t even touch on all the due process violations.

Five years into doing this work, I’m pretty sure that the most neurotypical person in the world could be made to look committable if put in a locked ward and checked in on every 5-15 minutes all day, every day.

Banging on the wall when the person in the room next to you is screaming at 5 in the morning while you’re trying to sleep? “Extreme agitation.”

Playing air guitar to music? “Responding to internal stimuli.”

Crying in pain over an untreated, undiagnosed chronic illness? “Excessive tearfulness,” possibly even “drug-seeking behavior.”

Reporting that the family member who had you hospitalized is abusing you? “Persecutory delusions.”

Disagreeing with the doctor’s diagnosis or proposed course of treatment? “Poor judgment and lack of insight.”

Refusing to talk to the doctors jumping to all these conclusions for the five minutes or so per day they have to spend with you? “Guarded and isolative with possible paranoia.”

I will stop ranting here, but there is a 99.9% chance that someone wishing psychiatric hospitalization on other people doesn’t know what the fuck they’re talking about.

thank you for the work that you do. your work is so important and saves people from so much distress. this is all so true and most of it is stuff i either experienced myself or saw fellow patients experience during my institutionalization. they literally treat us like we’re less than human, undeserving of autonomy or our feelings being taken into consideration. it’s a horrible, exploitative, often abusive system. thank you for what you do to free people from it.

Choice

Day 9 (give it up for Day 9) of @whumpmasinjuly . To be quite honest I had no idea where I was going with this, but have a small drabble.

-

“You leave me no choice, really.” Whumper breathed a sigh into Whumpee’s face and pushed himself up from the armrests he’d been leaning on.

Whumpee’s eyes blazed up at him. He wasn’t just going to spill the information. “You know, maybe if you’d just asked me nicely I would’ve helped you,” he smirked. He felt the blood run over his face, dripping down his chin. It tickled, but he couldn’t wipe it away.

Whumper turned, his gaze drifting over the blood, and smiled. “That was me asking nicely.”

The triumph in Whumpee’s eyes disappeared.

“You’re forcing my hand here, I don’t like it either,” Whumper said, the lie exposed by the vicious grin on his face. “So let me force your hand as well.”

He took Whumpee’s hand, bound tight against the armrest and started uncurling his fingers which clutched around the end. He wriggled his own hand underneath the fingers, entwining them for a short second.

“If you’ve got a preference where to start…” he said, nudging his fingers against Whumpee’s, pushing up each digit one by one, lingering by the pinky and twisting it back with his other hand.

“…do let me know.”

Whumpee breaks into someone's apartment because he has nowhere else to go. He hears footsteps and a man in a security guard outfit appears in the doorway. Whumpee panics:

"It's not-... Er- I swear, I live here!"

The stranger goes deeper into the hall and hangs the keys to the apartment on a hook.

"Well I thought I DID until now" Stranger chuckles and examines Whumpee with a single glare. Then casually asks "Ya hungry? I've got chicken nuggies"
