On this note, the wives of Hamdi Hijazi and Abdullah Haniyah are both heavily pregnant and are approaching labour, and the wife of Mohammad Bardaweel is recovering from labour. They are also survivors of the ongoing invasion of Rafah, and no longer have access to the hospital mentioned by journalist Hind Khoudary. One of the classic liberal zionist tactics is insisting that it is (theoretically) possible to criticize Israel without being antisemitic, yet somehow no criticism anyone actually makes, no matter how it is phrased, meets the standards for acceptable language.

It's a way of keeping Palestinians and their allies constantly on the defensive, constantly scrutinizing and policing our own language even when we are in the midst of unutterable grief.

It's also a way of making sure that people will by default associate being pro-Palestinian with being antisemitic. It sets up a framing where anyone advocating for Palestine is antisemitic until proven innocent, and keeps people uncomfortable talking about Palestine.

Switching my language from “Israel is detaining Palestinians in the West Bank” to “Israel is abducting Palestinians in the West Bank” because that’s actually what’s happening. They are not detainees. They are hostages. Innocent Palestinians get taken from their homes randomly, held up in detention centers indefinitely, and subjected to the cruelest conditions on no basis other than “you might do something bad in the future, so we have a right to imprison you.” This is what Israel calls administrative detention—and through it they have managed to get away with kidnapping hundreds of innocent Palestinians.

This is an actual real thing that has kept Palestinians we have never heard, nor will we ever hear of, behind bars for years on end

truly not to sound defeatist or cynical but it really does blow my mind how little love people choose to extend to black people lmao

do you have black friends or family or partners? do you show love to the black people in your lives? how? do you listen to black music, watch black movies, go to see black plays, read black authors? do you engage with our critical interventions, support our politics? do you show up when the black people in your lives are facing antiblack racism? do you appreciate our cultures or do you appropriate them for your own benefit? do you view blackness as a multitudinous expression beyond the myth of the monolith? do you walk the walk of being a true ally/co-conspirator? do you take the time to learn our histories? how do you demonstrate tangible love and support? and most importantly, if this very simple post makes you mad or makes you feel threatened, have you questioned why?

the torture in abu graib exposed should've permanently destroyed any faith in the US government to be "humanitarian" in foreign policy, but instead revealed the power of dehumanization. the most horrific war crimes become a necessary evil as long as you view victims of those crimes as deserving of it. and unsurprisingly the most depraved individuals are attracted to jobs involving torture CIA "advanced interrogation techniques". what torture you see israelis doing right now is so comparable to the torture done by the CIA in abu graib. some of it is quite literally identical, including the pictures and videos sadistically depicting war crimes as a positive.

and now what do you hear? "you're supporting terrorism by rejecting biden/israel". you know who else was accused of supporting terrorism? people questioning bush's policies after 9/11. you know what the public is aware of now? those people were correct about the bush administration.

Kerem Shalom Crossing and the Rafah border have been closed since May 6th. Very little aid was allowed into the Gaza Strip before that, far less than what the 2.3 million residents need to survive the genocidal blockade but now there's nothing coming into the Gaza Strip.

I need people to understand how dangerous the situation is. The people of Gaza were facing acute hunger and thirst problems before the Rafah invasion and things have gotten so much worse.

These settlers and the soldiers helping them are putting hundreds of thousands of civilians on the brink of death.
