Hello. Do you know about some fics that contain a lot of Dimples Queen?

Avatar

Hey!Firstly I apologize for the delay. I had the list done but my computer crashed andI lost it :( I tried to incorporate only major Dimples Queen fanfics but they still vary on the extent of DQ in them. I hope this is kind of what you were lookingfor :)

  1. Storm byyourpinkdiary: Regina gets a visitor during a storm.
  2. A Flower forRoland by whitebuddah0524: It was two years ago the plot beside Henry’s was filled. The fresh green sod and dirt torn away, dug up, removed and replaced. 3. SwimInstructor by whitebuddah0524: He never thought he’d have to worry about such things, hadfigured that by the time Roland showed any interest in women, the age gapbetween father and son would be large enough that the two of them would be‘fishing in different ponds’ if you will. He hadn’t prepared for this, hadn’t preparedfor Roland’s first crush to take place at the tender age of four, a crush on awoman, not a girl. Swim Instructor!Regina. Complete. Parts:[1] [2]
  4. CouldYou by whasupwhereitis:Robin owns the flower shop, the only flower shop that’s open before ten in afifteen mile radius. Regina Mills is the tattoo artist that works next door,he’s sees her nearly everyday, but Sunday and Monday, when she goes to work. Hemight never have talked to her, if she hadn’t saved his sons life. TattooParlour Owner!Regina. Flower Shop Owner!Robin. WIP. Parts: [1] [2] [3] [4]
  5. Domesticity bywhasupwhereitis:“The Queen, Papa,” and Roland points, little chubby finger extending overthe table, Robin follows the trajectory across the hall, his brain still slowto process, which leads him to starring at the woman in question for a fullthirty seconds before becoming aware that he is, in fact, staring at her. OQWeek1!Day 4:Domesticity.
  6. Tell Me A Secretby thisisamadhouse: That’s when it had started. Roland had settled, more like curledup, by her side still playing with her hair and talking nonsense until he hadasked her. “Tell me a secret, please? I am good at keeping secrets.” His“please” had been long, all wide inquiring eyes and tentative smile but she hadfrozen, unable to answer. Continuationof Thunderstorm.

What are some oq fics that you would recommend?

okay i took the greatest of care selecting what matters most to me. i also categorized as best as i could so it wouldn’t look like a mess of links i was just throwing at you – even though they’re all pretty much complete AUs, but i also attempted to summarize to help. bc you’re worth it, nonnie.

that being said, i’ve been awake since 2 in the morning, so i for sure forgot a lot of fics, and this is probably still a mess. regardless, this will be my oq fic rec masterpost that i will add more to when i’m not so tired.

- ̗̀ modern AUs  ̖́-

sunny side up (by @queen-of-the-merry-men, in-progress) - robin asks regina for her eggs during breakfast one day, but it turns out he means the baby-making kind. this fic’s still getting started, but it’s so adorable so far, and i’m so in love with how this person writes platonic bffs robin and regina, it’s so sweet and enjoyable to read while you wait for them to realize they’re in love with each other

what would they say (by @queen-of-the-merry-men, in-progress) - aka (bc i gotta warn you) the most epic slowburn to ever slowburn. like, some people try to give that trophy to other fics, but i strongly disagree bc i definitely count fic years, and boiiiii. i don’t even know how to summarize this… the gist, regina falls in love with the husband of her late best friend. the long, regina goes through some serious shit (including her best friend dying), and robin’s a real supportive guy, a good boy (who also goes through some shit i.e. his wife dying), and they fall in love

you’ve got mail (by @gray-autumn-sky, complete) - based on the movie (that i will watch one day), robin and regina become pen pals, not knowing they hate each other in real life. you know you can’t resist an enemies-to-lovers trope, bc no one can resist an enemies-to-lovers trope. and it’s written by tara, a quality person, so there. tbh i don’t know how to properly flail about how much i love this oneshot without spoiling it, so just know that i do, and should the day come that more is added to this verse i will spontaneously combust.

time just flies, but i still carry on (by @robinwright, in-progress) - idk how to summarize this without spoiling. to put it vaguely, robin’s an asshole and four years later he’s back to fix his mistakes. i just feel assaulted by this fic, and i need cassie to formally apologize for it (through a prequel and a happy sequel please

baby gates and deadbolts (by @x-wishes-on-fallen-stars-x, in-progress) - regina meets a baby roland at the store, and he approves of her hair. adorable, with undertones of emo bc it’s gabi. but it’s sweet, and full of parent OQ, which i’m always weak for.

eye of the beholder (by @mysterious-song, in-progress) - a blind robin falls in love with regina’s voice. this fic is so sweetly written, i’m just in silent awe. it’s beautiful. i want more so bad.

the song that summer sings (by @writtenndust, in-progress) - movie-star regina walks into robin’s humble bookstore, and wholesome love happens. you have no idea how far up this fic’s ass i am. i’m so in love. it’s so adorable. like, why am i still talking? why are you still here reading this? go read the fic. already read it? read it again.

- ̗̀ supernatural AUs  ̖́-

fallen (by @dee-thequeenbee, in-progress) - demons. fallen angels, actually, walking the earth, fucking shit up. of course regina’s one of them. and of course robin’s gotta get in her way. this concept is so cool, i love that this fic exists, and i can’t wait to see it progress

wild hearts (by @regal-pixiedust, in-progress) - amidst a zombie apocalypse, regina meets the survival group of robin, henry, roland, and david, and together they try not to die. stressful af, but there’s a healthy dose of regal believer in here, too, so it’s worth it.

broken souls (by @regal-pixiedust, in-progress) - regina can see dead people. she used to help ghosts move on in her younger days, and robin’s newly dead wife insists she gets back into the hobby. this fic is a wild ride from start to almost-finish, and i’ve loved every second of it.

- ̗̀ historical/magical AUs  ̖́-

happiness can’t be arranged (by @gray-autumn-sky, in-progress) - set in some time period that’s not now (i don’t know history, sorry tara), robin and regina are forced to marry each other. basically you read this fic and alternate between NOW KISS and wondering when robin and regina’s parents are finally going to die. but it’s also some quality hood-mills family stuff, and it gets even more adorable by the chapter, so you’re welcome

in sickness and in health (by @mysterious-song, complete) - a memory-loss AU (i, am trash for memory loss AUs. there aren’t enough of them). an adorable oneshot of robin waking up in the hospital to a pretty lady, whom he immediately wishes he was married to. his wish comes true. i love this oneshot so much, it’s so cute, and i wish every day that there was more

oq prompt party: sabrina au (by @lala-kate) - based on the movie sabrina. assuming bad intentions, robin tries to romance regina away from his infatuated brother in order to protect their family’s fortune. he falls in love with her instead. i first read this while i was not in a good enough mindset to reblog (and i’m sorry about that), but i fell in love. i would give a limb for this to continue. whatever you want.

not unless you wish it (by @miladylocksley, in-progress) - after a heist, robin finds a genie lamp amongst his new possessions, and out pops regina. you know when fics just kinda stay with you? and their existence just pops into your head randomly? that’s this fic. every now and then my brain is just like ‘remember the genie au?’ i do, brain. i do.

- ̗̀ canon-divergent AUs  ̖́-

from the missing pages (by @gray-autumn-sky, complete) - a page 23 AU. baby regina walks into the tavern that night, and meets robin. the only page 23 au that matters to me (the only one i’ve read fully, but whatever). it’s sweet, it’s stressful, and it makes for a nice reread every now and then

oq allergy-verse (by @gray-autumn-sky) - two super adorable s3-AU baby ficlets, here and here. regina, soulmate to her forest-bound thief, is allergic to trees. and robin’s gotta deal with that heartbreak. tbh i’m just hoping that if i keep talking about this tiny verse, tara will continue to add to it, so here we are

tethered (by @repellomuggletum15, in-progress) - s5 AU. instead of dying, robin somehow ends up trapped in the future, with his only connection to the present being the robin hood book. a cute (and frustrating) fix-it fic for the end of s5.

chimera (by @revolutionsoftheheart, in-progress) - post-s5 AU. zelena dies, and regina’s left to raise baby peanut. five-year-old baby peanut decides to scare the shit out of her aunt with her new imaginary friend. this fic is painful, and it hurts too. but i’m so intrigued as to where jakie’s planning to take it, so i’m here. hurting.

- ̗̀ holiday AUs  ̖́-

actually, love (by @revolutionsoftheheart, complete) - a snow storm leaves robin no choice other than to spend christmas with his ex, regina. this fic right here is the main reason this category exists. i love it so much.

ethereal (by @revolutionsoftheheart, complete) - two strangers meet in their dreams, and fall in love. basically jakie’s the queen of holiday one-shots. this is everything i could’ve wanted and more, and i’m still so happy she wrote it

the christmas exclusive (by @repellomuggletum15, complete) - reporter regina will do anything for the latest scoop on the locksley family, but accidentally falls for one of them in process. a fun read for the holidays

i hope this list is in any way beneficial

Happy Beginning, Indeed

from the prompt: one shot where OQ are doing it right before the wedding and get there right when they’re about to say their vows. “Sorry we’re late.”

ff.net, just to try if it works now, ugh.

.

It appears that pregnancy makes her horny.

She’s just entered the second trimester, and her stomach is now gently curved, nothing too excessive yet, but given that she’s always been thin, it shows. They still don’t know the gender, and this pains some members of her family – Snow, above all, who can’t wait to know if it will be another boy for David to teach swordfight (Regina has said that no, she doesn’t need the prince for swordfight, she can teach her own children, thank you so much) or a girl to spoil, in the same way she’s spoiling their Annie, whenever she can  steal her from Robin’s arms.

So yes, it wasn’t hard to find babysitters for this morning. Henry was gone before noon, and her heart has skipped a beat when she has seen him with a tie, and a white rose he was probably going to offer Violet soon. Then, Roland had sailed away with Granny, Geppetto in tow, saying he had to test the desserts before the reception. And then it was Annie’s turn with Snow, because the little girl wanted to go and see Aunt Emma’s dress.

“At least we get to keep one kid,” Robin has sighed, once Annie was out of sight, placing his hand above the curve of her belly.

“Mm, not for long,” she has answered. “They will steal her too, you know.”

Mirror Mirror on the Wall

**inspired by a post I saw where Regina uses her magic mirror to check in on the Queen and Robin Locksley**

It’s been over a year since she has checked in on the Queen, a small little peek into the other woman’s life just to make sure that everything is okay, that they are okay. And so far, everything seems good, really good. She’s had a couple chuckles over watching this other version of herself lose the royal thickness about her and become a woman of the forest. Long gone are the jewelled cloaks and high heels, all which have been traded in for more sensible clothing, furs, trousers and a bow on her back. It reminds her of the time she herself spent as a bandit, for that moment in time where she had been on the run from an Evil Queen and an outlaw had come to her rescue. It’s odd, to watch it play out in real life.

But this other Regina seems happy now that she’s stopped grumbling about living in the forest. It suits her. Suits them. And while they may live in a forest, Regina can’t help but smile at the fact that apparently you may be able to take a Queen out of her royal castle, but you can’t quite take all of royalty out of the Queen. They live comfortably, in a large-ish cottage on a hill surrounded by trees overlooking a lake. Thanks to her magic, they have everything they need, even indoor plumbing, a note Regina did laugh at. But Robin is still Robin. He still hunts and lives off the land, and makes campfires beneath the stars.

She’d watched them one night, tucked on a couch together underneath a blanket, a calm flickering of orange glow from the hearth beating about them as Robin combed through her hair till her eyes closed. She hadn’t meant to watch them as long as she had, feeling like a peeping tom and all, but Robin had waited till his Regina was nearly asleep, breathing heavier than a few minutes prior when he rustled gently in his pocket, and pulled out a small little box. She’d watched as his eyes trailed back down to the near asleep woman on his chest, a small smile creeping into his dimples as he kissed her temple and begun to play with her left hand.

Her heart had thundered as she sat silently in her room, absorbed in them and what was about to happen. He’d kissed her cheek, placed a few to her temple, and across her brow until she grinned in her sleep, curling further into his arms, as he pulled her gently awake. The Queen’s eyes had drifted blissfully open, contentment swirling about in them, at least until she saw the box Robin had pressed into her palm.

Regina’s breath had hitched at the same time the Queen’s had, the mirror in her hands creeping closer as she waited to see what the other woman would say, knowing the answer in her heart already. His voice was low, curious and full of love as he asked her the question, the Queen’s eyes flickering up from the diamond to his gaze, stunned, before she broke out into a smile, and nodded, pulling him down to meet her lips that ceased to stop grinning. She’d put the mirror down after that, wiped away a few tears she wasn’t sure were from longing or happiness. That had been the last time she’d seen them, snuggled together in their home, newly engaged.

She doesn’t do it often anymore, gaze into her magic mirror and see how they are, because it feels a bit strange sometimes, to see a life she could have lived going on in front of her eyes. It brings about an ache in her heart, wondering if she and her Robin would have lived this way, happily together. Maybe that’s why her checking in on them have been fewer and farther in between over the past two years. She is content that they are happy, that she was able to be a part of making that happen.

But something just felt a little different today, Henry had left for a school trip for a week and she was feeling a bit lonely in her mansion. For a few hours she’d managed to occupy her mind with cooking dinner (for one). Had made apple turnovers she’d not yet touched and had a long bath, even done her nails. And it’s only eight o’clock. Too early to fall asleep, nothing to capture her attention on TV, her book long finished.

Humming to herself, she thumbs the mirror on her bedside table, gnawing at the fact she wants to see them, that maybe, for a few minutes she’ll allow herself to pretend it’s her and Robin instead. Just a few minutes, ten tops. Sinking beneath the covers, she sighs, turning the glass towards her face and whispers out, “Mirror Mirror on the Wall, show me what I want to see most of all.” It glows a deep purple, bright and swirling in her palm till the light settles and the image fades into view.

It’s day time there, warm sun pooling into an empty living room, though seems no one is home. The thought makes Regina pout, unamused, what is she supposed to do now? Huffing out a breath, she sets the mirror aside, as stares out the window silently. The quiet is nice, she supposes. Not what she wanted, but what can she do about it? Settling into her pillow her eyes flutter shut, and she pictures Robin beside her, or maybe downstairs, frowning adorably at the appliances he’d yet to figure out.

She’d lost a toaster and a coffee pot whilst he was here and his curiosity had gotten the better of him. The sheepish look he’d given her as she’d walked into the kitchen to put out the fire alarm blaring away due to another smoke bomb from a destroyed instrument far too precious to have her irritation even flare a bit. He’d apologized, run his hand through his hair and sighed at the small carnage he’d created. But she hadn’t care, would just shrug and kiss him happily, letting her wrist flick and restore the appliance back to it’s working state. She liked those moments. Domestic ones between the two of them, it felt like normalcy had finally begun to settle into her life.

A muffled voice cues her attention back to the mirror beside her as she fumbles and flips it back over, light streaming into the cottage as a door swings open and she sees the other Regina walk into the living room, carting a basket on her hip and a smile on her lips. “I’ll be right there!” She calls back out over her shoulder, heaving the load from her arms onto the table. Robin must be outside.

She looks different. Her hair tied into a loose braid that swings over her cotton clothed back, face void of all makeup and dirt under her nails. It’s not the first time Regina has been amused at the sight of the once regal royal all dirtied up playing house. It’s nice. She dusts off her pants, makes her way quickly to the kitchen on the left just out of Regina’s view. In the distance she swears she can hear more than just one voice. Robin’s certainly, but there is someone else there with him, someone younger. Her heart flutters as a hushed laughter echoes around her. It sounds just like–

“Roland! Come back here.”

She freezes under her blankets, jaw dropping and eyes watering as she sees the mop of brown curly hair rush into the cottage. He looks exactly the same, a bit bigger no doubt, with the time that has passed, but his face hasn’t changed from the picture in her memory. Big button brown eyes, chubby dimpled cheeks, two new missing front teeth as he shouts cheerfully into the kitchen from the sofa he’s landed himself on. His little chest puffs in and out, and Regina can’t help the tears that fall, nor the way her fingers trace his face. She misses him so goddamn much. Kicks herself everyday for not being able to figure out how to get to him somehow.

“Hello, my little archer.” The Queen smiles as she steps back into the room, flopping herself down beside him, lips playfully coating his cheeks in affection as he squeals in delight beneath her.

Regina’s heart clenching at the sight of him moving to settle into the Queen’s lap, grinning up at her as his hands part, revealing a perfectly sliced apple, well almost perfectly sliced, one half is surely larger than the other. “I did it!”

“I see that! You’re getting better than Robin!”

“Yup!” Roland munches triumphantly on his half he hadn’t relinquished into the Queen’s hands.

“Oh you think so, eh?” Robin comes into view, his hair tousled on his forehead, a grin beaming as he settles down beside them with a smirk. “Should I tell Little John you’re about to take over as the leader of the Merry Men then, yeah?”

“Let him down easy, he’s a sensitive guy.” The Queen winks as she nuzzles down into Roland’s hair. “Speaking of which, he’ll be by rather soon to come collect you.”

“Awww, Gina, do I have to go?”

The pout he sends her is beautiful, as is the smile she sends back. Regina still sits enraptured on her bed, can’t help but feel a flutter in her stomach. They found each other. All of them. How she doesn’t know, but what does it matter anyway? It’s a perfect picture glowing out from her mirror. “You need to get some sleep or else you will fall asleep on the way tomorrow, and be a little grumpy toad.”

“No I won’t!”

Robin laughs, laces his fingers behind Roland’s back with the Queen’s, “Perhaps we can convince him to let you stay the night.”

“Yes!”

“We all know he is an easy turn if you show him just how good your archery has gotten, maybe he’ll seen reason in letting you stay and practice some more.”

Roland bounds between them, whooping and hollering as he grabs his small bow and arrow and races back outside, his cheering still heard from the quiet that surrounds the pair still on the couch. Robin turns his eyes from the doorway back to his wife who leans her head on the soft brown cushions, humming happily when he moves closer to her, draping her legs across his thighs, and tugging her tighter into him with a smiling kiss to her lips. The seemingly innocent kiss suddenly turns into something far more heated, a moan in the back of the Queen’s throat has Regina flushing hot, best be time to go.

Her hand begins to wave across the mirror, but her eyes glue to the placing of Robin’s hand on the Queen’s stomach, and she lets her magic fizzle out. They smile, a bashful blissful thing, eyes meeting one another’s before Robin shimmies down between the Queen’s thighs, his hands cupping a small swell Regina hadn’t noticed before.

“Hello, my boy. How are we this afternoon?”

The Queen cards through his hair, tilts her chin down and smiles as he begins talking to her bump, Regina hanging onto every muffled word and mischievous, cheerful grin he sends back up at his lover before focusing back down to the task of talking to their unborn child. “Now, you stay safe and warm in there and try to ease up on your mother for a while okay?” His kisses the swell and moves back up to buss the former Queen’s lips. “We should start thinking of names.”

“Already?”

“Why not?”

“Do you have anything in mind?”

Robin bites down on his lip, brow creasing as he scoots back down to the barely there bump. “Well, my father’s name was Richard.”

“Baby Boy Richard?” She cringes hard.

They both lock eyes before sharing a laugh, Robin shaking his head, “A definite no.”

“What about Rigel?”

“Rigel Locksley?”

The Queen shrugs, “I kind of like it.”

“As do I. And for a middle name?”

Regina soaks in the moment. Little Rigel. She wonders if he will look like Robin, or maybe a smaller version of Roland, her complexion to Marian is close enough anyway. And when the Queen whispers out a name, Regina’s heart stills, eyes flush with new tears.

“Henry?”

“I know that you didn’t really know him, either of them, my father or my son, but I’d like to…”

Her words are cut off by another melting of Robin’s lips to her own. “Say no more, Rigel Henry Locksley it is.”

“You’re sure?”

“Of course, my love. It’s perfect.”

They settle in together, lacing their hands over their baby boy safe in Regina’s belly.

“You’re sure you want to go tomorrow? We can wait a few days for you to feel better you know.”

“I’m okay.”

“You sure? You’re only a few weeks along, we don’t even have to go.”

She kisses him again, slow and steady before nodding, “I promise I’m fine, it’s not as bad as it was with Rae, that’s for sure.” Her eyebrows arch momentarily, “Plus, we promised Roland we’d take him.”

“He’d understand if you aren’t feeling up to it.” He rubs down her legs and back up her arms, saddling a fraction closer to her on the sofa.

“I know, he’s a good little boy, but I swear, I’m okay.”

“You’d tell me if you weren’t right? We can turn around anytime you want.”

He frowns, though the Queen chuckles, “You worry too much.”

She bumps his nose with her own as he sighs through a laugh, “I know, but it’s only cause I love you’re cooking and can’t imagine having to go back to eating boiled rabbit.” He jests at her, dimples on full display, as she scoffs, slaps his chest half heartedly.

“That’s why you married me? For my cooking skills?”

“Well that,” he leans in to catch her lips once more, “and maybe a few other things.”

Clearly something, no matter the realm or version never changed.

She huffs, pecks his lips a few times more, “Roland’s waiting. I’ll be right there.”

Robin smiles through his lingering concern, nuzzling into her neck for a few well placed kisses before extracting himself from her body, letting his hand circle across her stomach a few more times. “Speaking of little ones, shouldn’t she be up by now?”

“Probably, if we want to actually get some sleep tonight.” The Queen hums, running her own hands along the small swell as Robin stands, kissing her forehead one last time before whispering gently, “I’ll see you outside, my love.”

Regina watches as Robin leaves the Queen still smiling on the couch, soothing her hand over her stomach. This she certainly wasn’t expecting to see… an expecting version of herself. Where she’d figured envy would creep in, there is nothing. Well not nothing, there is a bubble of calmness that surrounds her as she smiles at the sight.

“Mama?” A little voice calls from up the stairs.

“Coming baby!” The Queen stands, and skips up the steps quickly and Regina can’t help but wait to see what their daughter looks like, what her and Robin’s daughter may have looked like. The room grows quiet as she sits up taller against the headboard, brushing a lock behind her ear, she needs a haircut, desperately so. But Robin liked it long, and she can’t really find it in her to shear it again. Oh well, unruly waves be damned, it will stay this length at least for a little while longer.

The sound of footsteps and happy bubbling laughter brings her eyes back to the mirror, the brown boots of the Queen coming into view first, her thighs and then a small dangling pair of matching boots at her waist. It’s all long brown curls hiding a little face burrowed into her mother’s neck. She can’t be more than twelve months, a baby still. A beautiful giggle muffled by the Queen’s own humming chuckle as she balances her daughter on her hip, whispering something Regina can’t quite catch.

“Shall we go see your daddy?” She turns and makes her way to the door, bouncing the little girl on her hip, and as they begin to walk away from the wall mirror Regina watches them from. Her eyes lock onto a pair of sky blue sparkling ones, chubby pink cheeks, dimples and a perfect rosy pout. For a second the little girl almost seems to sense her, and Regina can’t help but wave her fingers slowly as mother and daughter walk into the distance, and just before she loses sight of them, five little fingers wave back.

She laughs, brushes the tears off of her cheeks and sets the mirror down, her heart blooming and bursting at its seams. Her eyes close as she nestles back into bed, her mind swirling with the image of the perfect little family she had a part in bringing together, and something settles in her, a sense of calm and understanding that this will be the last time she uses the mirror, they have found a happily ever after, after all.

When One Stops The Kiss To Whisper “I’m Sorry, Are You Sure You-” And They Answer By Kissing Them More OQ maybe with a context of trauma and concern for the other being triggered

Written as if Robin came with the first curse, talks of death and torture etc.

Greg is dead. Dead and lying face down in a puddle of his own blood, David had confirmed it when Robin had cried out for an answer as he’d carefully gathered a limp Regina in his arms, cradling her against his chest and whispering reassurances into her hair as he’d carried her from that dark, dark room.

Greg is dead but Tamara is not and he wants to help in the search for the woman but he can’t leave Regina’s side, can’t let go of the warmth of her hand for fear that he’ll never feel it again.

Greg is dead but Regina is not. She’s yet to wake up but breath still fills her lungs and there is colour returning to her cheeks and the Blue Fairy - he didn’t want to let her near her vulnerable form, doesn’t trust the woman with what he knows of her but she’d been the lesser of two evils in the end - has told him that ‘the Queen’ will recover in her emotionless way before she’d disappeared downstairs to, no doubt, relay the information to an agitated Snow White.

Greg is dead and so is Tamara. The news comes from an ashen faced Emma. Neal is dead too, or at least lost to them forever and he feels a flare of anguish for the loss of a friend but Regina is still unconscious.

Death surrounds them. Smothering the town like a dark, dark cloak that won’t lift. He’s seen nothing of the outside world for days, knows that the bodies of Regina’s torturers have been taken care of and he hadn’t asked for the details because he does not care to know.

Henry sits with him most days, flanking Regina’s other side with fingers laced and his expression heavy. He’d sobbed into Robin’s shoulder one night, helpless against the sheer strength of his emotions as he’d berated himself for pushing her away for so long. Robin had held him tight and swallowed down his own despair at having done the very same the moment the curse had broken and his memories had returned.

Greg and Tamara are dead but Regina is not and on the eighth day, her eyes open.

Robin is sleeping fitfully with his chair pulled right up to her bed and his head by her legs. His hand holds hers and she frowns down at him for a moment, unsure of why he wouldn’t be in the bed beside her. It isn’t until she winces sharply, pain lancing through her when she attempts to move, that she remembers.

He wakes at the tug on his hand, blinking stupidly, drunk on exhaustion and quite sure that he’d dreamt of the movement until he hears her sharp breaths and shoots upwards with eyes suddenly wide and his heart pounding. “Regina?”

She’s sobbing silently save for her breathing, her body shaking on the bed and chin trembling even as she bites at her lip, trying to keep strong even now.

“Oh, my love.” His own eyes full as he stands and moves closer to her, apologising instantly when she startles at the feel of his hand on her arm but then she’s shaking her head and lifting her arms, waiting for him to fill them.

She shifts as much as she is able on the bed, cringing at the pain all the while but ignores his pleas for her to stop and instead tugs him down onto the bed beside her, curling into him and taking great fistfuls of his shirt.

“I’ve got you,” he whispers into her hair, pressing kisses to the crown of her head and holding her as carefully as he can. He’s not sure when he falls asleep but he knows it’s her deep and even breaths and the closeness of her that lulls him.

When he wakes an indeterminate amount of time later, the sky outside is dark but her eyes are darker as they look over his face. Her words come only when he’s lifted a hand to play with the ends of her hair. “I need to take a shower.”

He’s been bathing her as best he could over the past week but he knows why she’s telling him. She wants to physically wash her ordeal from her skin.

Robin has already rinsed the fragrant suds of shampoo from her hair and smoothed her favourite body wash over her skin when she turns and wraps her arms around his waist slowly, their toes touching as she rests her head on his shoulder and allows herself the comfort of his arms for a long moment. “I was so scared, Robin.”

His heart aches terribly in his chest at her gentle confession. “He’s dead,” he lifts a palm to the back of her head, “he can’t ever hurt you again.”

She nods against his neck before she lifts her head and pulls back to look at him with eyes that fall to his lips after a long moment.

She doesn’t have to ask, merely tilts her face up and closes her eyes when he lowers his head to capture her lips in a tender kiss that has her releasing a shuddered breath through her nose. “I’m sorry,” he whispers when he pulls back, eyes full of concern as he asks, “are you sure you-”

Regina shakes her head and leans forward, bringing his lips back to her own with a hand at the back of his head and a silent plea for him to just give her this moment. And he does. He pours every ounce of his love into the kiss as he holds her gently, letting her control the pace, letting her decide when they were to stop. Just letting her be.

The Queen’s Curls

For @queen-of-the-merry-men who wanted Robin to see Regina’s natural curls for the first time. Happy belated birthday! ❤️

In the Missing Year, Regina shows Roland her curly hair | 2.3K unbeta-ed words

The Queen was brooding.

Not that this surprised Robin, he had rarely seen her with anything but a scowl plastered to her face from the moment he met her. But it was the way the Queen brooded, silent and alone, hunched in on herself as she sat in front of the roaring fire, which took Robin by surprise.

He had heard many a story about the great and terrible Evil Queen, about rage that levelled villages and a burning magic that could turn a man to dust. He had expected fire and venom from this great sorceress, this supposed monster of a woman. But she surprised him.

She was often cold, and detached, and was made of far less fire than Robin would have expected. She rarely spoke, especially on outings such as this one, camping with Snow White and the Prince along with Robin’s band of Merry Men, in the middle of the woods on a mission to gather intel on the Wicked Witch. Usually, the only time she opened her mouth was to throw a snarky comment laced with venom at anyone lucky enough to ruffle the royal feathers.

The rare exception to this rule was Robin’s son, who had a rapidly growing soft spot for her Majesty. She would offer him half smiles when he ran up to speak to her, listened intently whenever he regaled her with one of his never ending stories, nodding and, on good days, laughing quietly for only Roland to hear, and she had even started letting him sit on her lap during meals. It warmed a part of Robin’s heart, a part deep inside and long gone cold, seeing the Queen melt in the presence of his boy.

Robin had found that he was becoming increasingly better at reading the Queen, at knowing when her mood was rather colder than usual, when it was best to keep his distance as to not make matters worse, and he prided himself on knowing her so well – though he’d never admit it.

It was Roland that held the Queen’s attention now as she sat across from Robin perched on a damp log, arms wrapped around herself loosely. Something was bothering her, enough that even Roland’s dance around the camp’s fire couldn’t seem to smooth the crease between her brows or the narrowing of her eyes. If Robin could guess, he’d say that she wasn’t really watching Roland, and instead she let her eyes fall on him while her mind wandered. But to where, Robin wondered?

He hadn’t realized he was staring at the Queen until Little John cleared his throat from beside him loudly, snapping Robin out of his trace and handing him a steaming hot bowl of broth. The scent hit his nose then, rich with meat and a hint of spices that Robin couldn’t quite name, and his stomach rumbled.
