What is The Mark Side?

THE MARK SIDE follows the life of MARK REED— an unconventional and flawed protagonist navigating a drama-filled life while pushing everyone to their limits in the meantime!

Filled with angst, complex relationship dynamics, LGBT characters, and comedy! A story with a deeper meaning than you'd think!

Throughout the show, I aim to tackle a lot of serious issues like mental health and abuse with morally grey characters.

Here's a new and improved TMS introduction thread!

Featuring some new information for TMS's returning audience! ★ Happy Indie Animation Day! Make sure to follow me for updates on the show and fun community stuff! Go to @ask-tms for fun ask blog shenanigans and check out themarkside.com for more!

Why does IMDB says that TMS is a "Adult animation"? You Sayed that is TV-14 ._.

IMDB isn't really a reliable source, but in general I agree with the statement. I'd classify TMS as a 'young-adult animated series.' AKA not suitable for young kids due to the language and mature topics. But it's not explicit enough to be amongst the realm of TV-MA shows. In the US, the majority of 'adult shows' are given a TV-14 rating. (It seems that even South Park is TV-14 nowadays??? SOMEHOW.)

Though with indie media, it's hard to assign a strict rating, because there is no set of rules one needs to follow, the rating is up to the creator. I decide to roll with 'TV-14' because to me, shows worthy of TV-MA ratings are ones that are heavily saturated with adult themes that no one under 18 should be exposed to. I don't consider just saying 'fuck' worthy of bringing a rating up to TV-MA. Teens swear, everyone knows that. TMS requires nuance to understand the story, character intentions, and certain sensitive aspects (which is a more adult aspect,) but both its characters are teens, i was a teen when i created it, and it appeals to teens, so I consider it a teen/young adult show.

What if TMS had a spanish dub?

You talking fandub or official dub? Either way, I think that'd be awesome. Would love to one day have official translations, but it's not something I'd be able to manage myself. Definitely encourage and would love to see fan made dubs though!

Really wanna get back to answering character centered questions again since that’s always fun, so feel free to give me a TMS character and a number! (One number per ask preferably so the post can be read more coherently, if you’re curious about multiple things, please send multiple asks)

May not answer certain stuff for more obscure or irrelevant characters, but feel free to inquire regardless. :D

They’re old hamster characters of mine that I’ve only ever posted on toyhouse. Honestly surprised anyone acknowledged they existed lol.

hi saver! new to the mark side and i am reading the wiki for it, i am a bit confused what the warning on the timeline page means. can you explain it for me? i am vry dumb i apologize 😭

If you mean this

The reason why is because the show that's being worked on is an adaptation of all the information documented on that page. So not 1:1 to what is said there. I wouldn't say there's huge changes to the story, but there are some changes that were made to fit the medium of an animated series more, as well as some changes that make the context of specific plot points more clear/coherent.

I really hope to get to show everyone what's in store for the story for the show in due time! I won't be spoiling any of the changes. You're all gonna have to see what happens as episodes come out, so support the show if you wanna see how it's all portrayed. :)

Hamstermonium is having their animated web series?

No, it's more so just a concept for a show rather than something I'm actively perusing. I created those characters when I was VERY young with the idea of a cartoon in mind, only just recently did I revamp them and upload them to the internet publicly for the first time. If I ever do something with them, it likely wouldn't be indie, I'd probably try pitching to a network if i ever get to a spot I'm happy with in my career.

For now, I'd much rather dedicate my time, focus, and resources to The Mark Side because it's stressful enough producing one show lol. May draw the hamster characters every now and then and would be happy to answer any questions from those curious, but TMS is my only current project in production!
