Taylor calls herself crazy all throughout TTPD, but maybe I’m just as insane because I actually think she’s quite normal? Because if I ended a once happy 8 year relationship because the love was gone and we were both no longer in love to then get with a situation-ship who has been pinning for you for years only for them to abandon you when they finally got you, I’d commit full arson.

the album is brutally honest, satirical, a bit cringe here and there, depressing and experimental at the same time, I would not side eye anyone for saying "I don't understand this" or "this isn't my cup of tea" or even "what the fuck is this" because it's obviously not a 1989 or midnights kind of album for everyone. I understand why she said she "had to put this out" but while she is at the peak of her career, she released an album that is not for beginners nor really for overall critics, it's knees deep into the taylor swift lore and probably the most herself an album has ever been, that does not mean it is a masterpiece but it makes it so insanely special

I think the album is extremely, deeply personal. She pulls no punches, and shows us everything. People say pop is popular, meant to appeal to everyone, and is criticized when that popularity comes at the expense of the artist's person hood. This is the opposite of pop because it shows us Taylor's psyche and makes very few attempts to sanitiser it or tone it down or make it appeal to the masses. So I understand if it doesn't appeal to everyone, it's not supposed to.

I hear a sentiment a lot that people who create art create it for themselves. A writer on this site would put out some fanfiction for an obscure ship or fandom and some one would ask "why would you write this? Who is even going to read it?" And the writer would answer "me. I wrote it for me. I am going to read it. I am going to enjoy it. And I am going to write more." I think that's sort of what is happening here. She isn't making music for everyone else. She's making it for herself. And I love it.

Who knows, too late once you see them), everyone live blogging their mental breakdowns, someone logging in who’s been away all day and is confused, seeing takes from the mutual in law you don’t like, the “I KNEW IT FROM THE BEGINNING” types, people complaining that their job expects them to do work, seeing a “I’m so glad I took off of work on friday” post, the “actually I still haven’t recovered from folklore/evermore/etc” crowd, there’s really nothing else like it, honored to spend every release week on here with you guys I wouldn’t want to spend it any other way
