From both perspectives

His arms tightened, and when his voice came again it was desperate. “Your name…”
I twisted, trying to look at him, but his arms held me fast. “If it really means that much to–”
“…is Cassie.”
I just sat there for a second, unmoving. And then I did turn, having to fight his hold. And when I did–
His eyes were emerald. Not green, not jade, but pure emerald, shining in the darkness like a light was behind them. Because one was.
Soul light.
I felt like crying and laughing all at once. He was finally here, the person I’d chase through centuries of time. Only to arrive too late.
Tell me! That is your name?” Pritkin looked like my name was important. Like it was the most important thing in the world. Like it was something he’d clung to, through whatever personal storm he’d been living all this time.

Ride the storm, page 574.

He’d tried to form words, tried so hard, knowing he didn’t have much time, but wanting to know: how she’d found him, how she’d travelled so far, why she’d risked it. But he couldn’t seem to speak. All he could do was stare at her dumbly, the strange light from outside staining her blonde hair pink, her dress blowing against her body, the sparks reflected in her eyes. And her name … what was her name? His scrambled brain had searched and searched for the answer, like it was a lifeline, like it was the most important thing in the world. And to him, right then, it had been.
But he couldn’t remember, not until she started to cry, silently, almost stoically, tears slipping down her exhausted, dirty face as she stared at the carnage outside. And, suddenly, he knew. “Cassie,” he’d said hoarsely. “Your name is Cassie.”

Snippet from Siren’s Song.

To emphasize:

Like it was the most important thing in the world. Like it was something he’d clung to, through whatever personal storm he’d been living all this time.

like it was a lifeline, like it was the most important thing in the world. And to him, right then, it had been.

good evening to everyone but redice studio who thought that it was a good idea to give a minor character with no name this kind of flow and charisma.

“I fell in love with you, smartass, because you were one of us—because you weren’t afraid of me, and you decided to end your spectacular victory by throwing that piece of bone at Amarantha like a javelin. I felt Cassian’s spirit beside me in that moment, and could have sworn I heard him say, ‘If you don’t marry her, you stupid prick, I will.” ― Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

““All right, then,” Caleb said, gathering up the reins. And then he just stood there. “All right, then,” I agreed. “All. Right,” he said again, his lips pursing, as we continued to go nowhere. “Is there a problem?” I asked, after a few seconds. He shot me a glance. “You don’t, uh, know how to drive one of these things, do you?” I looked at him. “Do I know how to drive a chariot, Caleb? Is that what you’re asking me?” He sighed. “Yeah. Me, neither.””

Ride the Storm Appreciation Week - Favorite Relationship

Rosier and Cassie Palmer

“It was desperation, but it worked. And when desperate gambles work, they call them brilliance. Do it enough, and people start believing that you always can, you always will. They follow people like that. They write legends about people like that.”

“But…you still know the truth.  You know you’re faking it.”

“Yes, but eventually you realize something: the other side is, too. At least as often as not. Learn what you can; do what you can; get others to do it for you when you can’t. And fake it for all you’re worth in the meantime.” He shot me a look. “In other words, exactly what you’ve been doing.”

I blinked at that. It wasn’t exactly a compliment, but it was close. Somebody was basically telling me that I wasn’t screwing things up as badly as I might be.

Hell, I’d take it.

The Medieval Welsh Drift Aesthetic is real

“—then again,” Pritkin shouted, because he was still talking, “there’s a slight chance they may not have had time to absorb my particular brand of charm on my last visit—”

“You don’t have any charm,” I snarled, and shoved him off the rock.

“My particular brand of charm” I’m dying laughing

I love this line because present-day Pritkin has obviously given up on having any charm at all, and it’s also a great call-back to his Fey incident in “Hunt the Moon”

you know, rereading little snippets of TtD in light of everything that’s happened since is so funny?? And amazing?? I especially love how in book 1, Cassie is confronted with all these suave, gorgeous, smooth, stylish Studs™ and yet the guy that she ultimately falls in love with is this absolute Disaster Man, with awful hair and zero ‘‘‘‘‘game’’’’’. I love how KC not only introduces Pritkin as physically unremarkable to the point of ugliness and brash and abrasive on an interpersonal level but also surrounds him with these perfect specimens of manhood, making him look practically grotesque by comparison. And then to turn it around, to peel off layer after layer of false impressions and external roughness until the reader and Cassie herself meet and fall in love with what’s beneath – it’s just such a delicious reversal, such an epic development to ‘live’ through, so to speak. Every time i think about it, I just start swearing incoherently bcs the whole thing makes me so mad it’s so PERFECT i hate it!!

Chanceverse Graphics Request - Pritkin + Green for @halfincubus

‘He’d leaned over the table, close enough for me to map the ring of jade around each iris, and the pale amber-green layer that darkened to golden brown around the pupils. There were striations, spokes of gold, and specks of brown and emerald, all of which blended to just green at any distance at all. Beautiful, I thought randomly—for a second, until he abruptly pulled back and looked away.’
