Acorn Charms

So I took my own idea and tried out an acorn charm! I’m an empath, so I made this one to help me stay grounded when surrounded by people!!

Ingredients:

  • (1) acorn, any size - associated with success, luck, and wishes.
  • (1) drill with a small bit.
  • (1) Xacto knife.
  • Assorted gem chips and herbs associated with your intent - I used amethyst, tiger’s eye, quartz, citrine, and carnelian for gems; marjoram, mint leaf, and lemon grass for herb.
  • Glue.

Prep: Gently remove the cap from the acorn. Using a drill or knife, carefully hollow out the center of the acorn, aka the nut. Use an xacto knife or similar to scoop out the rest of the nut (as a discord friend informed me, this part of the acorn is soft and will rot over time, so make sure you get all of it!!!).

Stuff your now hollow acorn with your herb and gem chips while focusing on your intent. Allow the energy to flow for as long as you feel necessary. Apply your glue to the inside of the acorn’s cap and press it gently back onto the top. Imagine it “sealing” your intent inside. Leave the glue to dry.

Casting: Once dry, charge or activate the charm as you normally would. Done!

I’m excited to try out these charms this fall!!! In theory, they should be easy to make, concealable in travel alters, bags, pockets, or worn as jewelry, and safe to dispose of if you like to bury your charms in nature.

Feel free to use and let me know if they work out for you!!

If you want this to be 100% nature friendly, you need to use a biodegradable glue. The vast majority of glues (including the one shown in the picture) are plastic based (specifically polyvinyl acetate), which means they’re not going to biodegrade any time soon and can be harmful to small critters. Since most craft stores aren’t going to carry eco-friendly glues, here are a few ideas for making your own.

my favorite thing about ppl trying to mask their personal issues as reason to hate on captain marvel by being Unbiased and Logical is saying that the movie is bad cause shes too powerful and you know that shes not in danger n she’ll survive the movie. well hate to break it to you but usually main characters of origin movies tend to survive said origin movies no matter how powerful they are.

+ thor is a literal undead god and none of you ppl seem to have a problem with that. hulk is literally indestructible and one of the 5 overpowered marvel characters and none of you seem to care. so going on rotten tomatoes and giving the moive a shit review and an essay of invalid excuses, especially when top critics agree that it was overall a really good movie, just looks like this to me

*walks to table and sits down* You really wanna do this? You really wanna say that white men only have a problem with this movie? When I’ve read countless critical reviews by women and POC bashing this BASIC and shitty film? When I’ve been an MCU fangirl for 7+ years and can RECITE and POINT TO the places in every single MCU film before this where this shit-for-a-film BLATANTLY IGNORES previous canon???

Fine, let’s do this.

First of all, this bitch:

Is a Mary Sue. D’ya know what a mary sue is, kiddies? A mary sue is an annoying-ass female character that learns things she’s never done before without error, flawlessly beautiful but thinks she’s average, everyone likes her, and she can do literally anything and nothing no time will ever stop her because she’s perfect. (The male version of this is referred to as a gary-stu and they’re as equally godawful.)

Now, Captain Marvel (I mean the film, for clarification’s sake) rewrites all of MCU history just so that Carol can be queen. (as if that’ll make us like her more???) It rewrites Captain America: The First Avenger and instead makes DANVERS the inspiration behind the Avengers Initiative (she IS NOT, as it is stated and implied in Avengers 2012 that Captain America and Tony Stark were the inspiration behind it). A second way it rewrites CA:TFA is by somehow making the Tesseract be in the hands of this Wendy woman. When in Avengers 2012 it is BLATANTLY OBVIOUS that the PEGASUS S.H.I.E.L.D. facility is the first place to handle the object, as no one knows how it really works (and if that Wendy loser had been doing experiments on it all the way back in the 80s or whatever, she should’ve had TONS of paperwork, just FYI).

Another problem I have is that in Avengers 2012 FURY CLEARLY TELLS EVERYONE that Thor is the first alien he and S.H.I.E.L.D. have ever encountered. And that Thor and Loki’s “grudge match” in Puente Antiguo is the reason behind using the Tesseract to create weapons of war.

“we learned that not only are we not alone [last year] but we are hopelessly, hilarious outgunned”

Captain Marvel took FIVE PEOPLE to create, and yet they still shit all over the previous films, foisting all of the glory onto Danver’s shoulders. In the name of Loki WHY? Why can’t things remain inspired on the ORIGINAL SIX? WHY GIVE IT ALL TO THIS BITCH WHO HASN’T EARNED A DAMN THING???

So, you’re wrong about the reason people hate this movie.

Top critics consider this movie bland, disinteresting, boring and unoriginal. A lot of them even go so far as to say Larson’s acting is emotionless and wooden and not cut out for a superhero film. That she can’t fill the boots because she’s just not believable. And that’s true.

But not only is this film bland, boring, pedantic, and a useless addition to the MCU in the 11th hour, (it is in no way a tie-in to Endgame) but it also looks at the established canon and backstory and says “fuck you” to it. It looks at established characters and announces proudly “I don’t give a damn about you”. If you’re a so-called “fan” of the MCU, you should be seething at this movie.

If you’re not pissed off then you’re an absolute fool who shouldn’t be in this fandom anyway. Fandom is NOT about politics. It is NOT about asserting a political agenda and it is NOT about telling someone their opinions are invalid because of their gender and the color of their skin (HINT: that’s called racism). A fandom is about the characters, the saga unfolding around them, and their story, personalities, and histories.

It’s about coming away from our world to another one to enjoy it.

STOP trying to shove your damn world into a fictional one, and STOP supporting a movie that has just wrecked an entire fictional universe. If you support this film, you support bad writing, bad acting, and bad dedication to what came before. This is the worst movie in MCU history. This movie is criminal to the franchise. If you don’t think that then you’ve never been a fan of the MCU, you’re just a political troll.

And before I go: if straight white men have a problem with a female superhero, why the helheim is Wonder Woman adored by every man I know? Every male fan I’ve talked to and heard talk adores Wonder Woman, Ripley, Alita, Harley Quinn, Batgirl, Poison Ivy, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Shuri, etc. Don’t tell me that they have a problem with it being a female hero when they love Wonder Woman. Don’t tell me that I have a problem with a female hero when I love Black Widow and Wonder Woman.

Because my problems with Captain Marvel have nothing to do with the fact that she’s female, and everything to do with the poor writing and the bitch of an emotionless actress who decided she was going to inject her political beliefs into a fictional world that was doing just fine without her dumb character’s existence.

SPOILERS FOR CAPTAIN MARVEL BE IN THIS POST.

I saw this post in the Captain Marvel tag a couple of times and each time I tried to ignore it because at best it’s a nonsensical diatribe against a movie you clearly haven’t even seen, and at worst it’s misogynistic trash, but in either case, taking the time to dismantle your entire argument seemed like a waste of energy, since I doubt it’d penetrate the thick layer of ignorance that clouds your entire judgement - but, I don’t have anything else to do today. So, yeah, I might as well do this.

First of all, this bitch:

This is where you immediately lost anyone you might have been genuinely trying to argue with. You can’t say “oh I dislike Captain Marvel because she’s a bad character, not because she’s a woman” and expect that argument to hold any weight when you begin your rant with a gendered slur. It immediately undermines your already flimsy credibility. But just for fun, let’s continue.

I thought we’d all kind of collectively moved past the idea of “Mary Sues” as a thing to be avoided once we started accepting self-inserts and Character x Reader tropes into fan fiction. Mary Sues were originally popular because the people who created them wanted to self-insert their idealized self into a world of fiction. This was largely prevalent in fan fiction, but then people started applying the term to women characters in published fiction and other productions to describe characters like Bella Swan (largely regarded as Stephanie Myers’s self-insert), until eventually the term “Mary Sue” somehow just became synonymous with “woman character I don’t like because she’s good at stuff and not flawed enough to be a believable woman” or “strong woman character” or “woman character.” I’ve seen people refer to Wonder Woman, Black Widow, Scarlett Witch, etc etc etc as “Mary Sues” for various reasons, none of which include the original definition of the trope and all of which usually boil down to “she’s a woman who does stuff.”

This is what you’ve done here, with Captain Marvel. I’ll break it down further: all of the qualifiers you use to support calling Carol a Mary Sue are based on your subjective opinions without being backed up by anything that happens in the movie:

  • “Annonying-ass.” Subjective.
  • “Learns things she’s never done before without error.” Carol fails so many times that it’s literally a theme in the movie - she gets up again and again, after failing, after fucking up, after being knocked on her ass.
  • “Flawlessly beautiful but thinks she’s average.” No one says a word about Carol’s appearance in the movie, least of all Carol herself; she never claims to be beautiful nor does she claim to be average. Carol’s appearance has nothing to do with the plot of the movie, except when a jerk on a motorcycle tells her she’d be prettier if she smiled - which was included as an anecdote of something millions of women, every single day, are told countless times by men. Unless being told we’ll look better if we smile makes all women Mary Sues? Is that the argument you’re making?
  • “Everyone likes her.” She keeps coming up against people who don’t like her - some of whom, in fact, hate her very much.
  • “She can do literally anything and nothing no time will never stop her because she’s perfect.” By the end of the movie, she’s got incredibly powerful abilities, but that doesn’t make her perfect, nor does she ever claim it does.
Now, Captain Marvel (I mean the film, for clarification’s sake) rewrites all of MCU history just so that Carol can be queen.

Literally everything about this paragraph is wrong. Nothing in Captain Marvel rewrites TFA or MCU history.

It rewrites Captain America: The First Avenger and instead makes DANVERS the inspiration behind the Avengers Initiative (she IS NOT, as it is stated and implied in Avengers 2012 that Captain America and Tony Stark were the inspiration behind it).

The Avengers Initiative was in the works when Fury first approached Tony Stark at the end of Iron Man 1. I’ll include the quote:

At this point in time, Steve Rogers is presumed dead (because he hasn’t been found in the ice yet), so how was he part of the inspiration for the Avengers? Additionally, Tony Stark wasn’t the inspiration, either - Fury literally says, you’re not the only one, you’ve just become part of something bigger.

All Captain Marvel does is establish that this idea of Fury’s has been in the works for a long time, which is why Fury approaches Tony at the end of Iron Man 1 - since Carol, Tony’s the first superhero that Fury has encountered, and Fury now sees an opening to bring the Initiative to life.

Furthermore, the Initiative was originally called something else - the Protector Initiative, I think, but I don’t remember.  Fury changed it to the Avenger Initiative after seeing “Avenger” on Carol’s Air Force plane. But as was stated in Avengers 1 - The Avengers Initiative was never going to work without giving the team something to avenge. The team’s name, which Fury came up with based on Carol, didn’t even fit until Coulson died. “The Avengers” never had anything to do with Tony Stark or with Steve Rogers until they made the team their own after the events of Avengers 1.

If you had taken the time to see the movie instead of bashing it, you’d have known that this question is answered. After Howard Stark found the Tesseract in the 1940s, the Tesseract belonged to SHIELD. In the 90s, Wendy Lawson was a SHIELD scientist in charge of the Pegasus Project. The movie reveals Lawson was a Kree, on Earth because the Tesseract was on Earth, and she was using the Tesseract to develop hyperspeed technology. She had the Tesseract on her space laboratory, where Carol found it and entrusted it to Fury - who took it back to SHIELD, where the Pegasus facility presumably began their work on it. Also, “that Wendy loser” DID have tons of paperwork on it. Unfortunately, it was all written in the Kree language, so no one at SHIELD could understand it, and it was all shelved and boxed away in the SHIELD archives after Lawson died. No plot holes here, sorry, try again.

No. Fury tells everyone that Thor is the first alien “WE” have encountered. You’re interpreting that “we” to mean Fury and SHIELD but it’s more plausible that Fury means “we” as in humans. In Captain Marvel, Fury is largely working alone. No one else from SHIELD worked closely with Carol, and everything that happens between the aliens happens in the middle of nowhere or outside of the Earth’s atmosphere, in space. Humans were clueless. Most of SHIELD was clueless - even Coulson was clueless, to an extent. My point is, the movie did a very good job of having everything happen in such a way that it’s not only possible, but plausible, that Fury - aided by SHIELD - covered up the entire thing and the world was none the wiser.

Additionally, as such a fan of the MCU, I assume you’ve seen the Agent Carter series, which is considered MCU canon, and if so, you’d know that SHIELD has known about alien technology since the 1940s, when Peggy faced Whitney Frost and the Zero Matter that came from black holes and interdimensional rifts in space/time (I’m going off the top of my head here, so my memory is a bit foggy, but that’s basically what it boils down to).

The difference was, in the 40s and in the 90s, SHIELD covered everything up. They failed to cover up Thor’s appearance in New Mexico and there were tons of human witnesses (both firsthand and I’m assuming on the news) that saw the “grudge match” play out. Because of Thor, the narrative changed. It went from “We’re not alone but we can keep that a secret” to “the world knows we’re not alone, and now we can use the threat of alien encounters to justify using the Tesseract for weapons for the safety of humanity.”

Speaking as someone who thinks Infinity War is trash and Endgame will probably be trash, if we’re being 100% fair here, we have no idea what Carol’s role in Endgame is going to be. Yes, it does seem like she’s being brought in at the 11th hour to save the day. Whether or not that’s actually going to happen remains to be seen. What her movie does is establish that she’s a powerful ally for the Avengers to have against Thanos. That’s it.

Top critics consider this movie bland, disinteresting, boring and unoriginal. A lot of them even go so far as to say Larson’s acting is emotionless and wooden and not cut out for a superhero film. That she can’t fill the boots because she’s just not believable.

Citation needed. While I wait, I’ll provide you with just a couple of the top critics’ praise for this movie (easily found on Google):

But not only is this film bland, boring, pedantic, and a useless addition to the MCU in the 11th hour, (it is in no way a tie-in to Endgame) but it also looks at the established canon and backstory and says “fuck you” to it. It looks at established characters and announces proudly “I don’t give a damn about you”. If you’re a so-called “fan” of the MCU, you should be seething at this movie.

Bold of you to make these claims about a film you very obviously haven’t even seen. Furthermore, as a fan of the MCU, the only thing that had me seething was your baseless, sexist, nonsensical diatribe of a post.

I’m not pissed off, and you can pry this fandom from my cold, dead fingers. There’s no “political agenda” being asserted via Captain Marvel. What Captain Marvel does is take the story of a woman who dares to try to fit into a “man’s world” and is constantly told by the men around her that she’s not good enough, that she’s not strong enough, that she’s not hard enough, that she’s too emotional, that she has something to prove.

The movie takes a common aspect of the female experience and puts it in the context of the superhero world. You know who else, in the real world, experiences these things? Women who join the army. Women who join STEM fields. Women who try to be coders, to be software engineers, women who want to play sports, women who strive to attain positions of power, women in office spaces and work places, women in classrooms, women on Little League teams, women who don’t smile enough, women who are quiet, women who are loud, women who exist.

Carol’s experiences, from being told she shouldn’t drive a go-cart to being told she can’t be an Air Force pilot to being told she can’t be a superhero, are universal to women and that’s what makes this movie both incredibly relatable to women and such a source of fear for men.

Men find it threatening to be called out. Look at the backlash over that Gillette commercial, for God’s sake. Men who are forced to confront the realities of gender inequality and then have to further confront the fact that they might possibly need to change don’t take to it kindly. It’s why men went and downvoted this movie and left bad reviews before it was even released - the real “political agenda” is how men prove, over and over again, that they can’t handle anything that gives women the slightest bit of strength and credibility and they need to undermine it and tear it down and destroy it before it takes hold. That’s the reality of what’s happening here.

And I know what you’ll say to that: But I’m a woman and I don’t experience that. But I’m a woman and I don’t like Captain Marvel. But I’m a woman and my opinion is valid. But I’m a woman and I think we have equality and feminism isn’t needed. Not all men are like you’re saying. I know, because this isn’t the first time I’ve seen a post of yours that echoes these sentiments.

If you truly have never experienced any of these things, then I’m happy for you. I’m glad that your experience as a woman has been so positive and fulfilling. That’s not the case for all women. It’s not the case for most women. I’m glad that you’ve found some kind of validation and contentment in whatever bubble you live in that has allowed you to foster your beliefs.

STOP trying to shove your damn world into a fictional one

Likewise, stop trying to shove your world onto a fictional one. Carol Danvers has not had the fortune of having the same experience as you have. That doesn’t make her story invalid, it doesn’t make her a bland bitch, it doesn’t make her a troll trying to push a political agenda. It also doesn’t invalidate the many stories of the many women who identify with her.

STOP supporting a movie that has just wrecked an entire fictional universe. If you support this film, you support bad writing, bad acting, and bad dedication to what came before. This is the worst movie in MCU history. This movie is criminal to the franchise. If you don’t think that then you’ve never been a fan of the MCU, you’re just a political troll.

This movie has not wrecked an entire fictional universe, but the reaching you’ve done to get to that conclusion and use it as evidence to support your hatred of Carol Danvers is truly impressive.

I support this film. If you don’t, that’s fine. Not everyone likes everything. If you don’t like it, though, at least have the integrity to be able to make a valid argument on why you don’t like it. I suggest you take a long look in the mirror and ask the political troll staring back at you why you really hate this movie so much. Because it sure has hell has nothing to do with MCU canon or plot holes or bad writing.  Maybe you should think about that for awhile.

how is it that men are consistently reading carol in that endgame scene as cocky???? thor was the one swearing up and down his own ass that he in isolation would beat thanos (and he MISSEDT) but carol just says she might be the missing piece as someone who literally has earth military training, SPACE military training, and the Power Of A Whole Ass Infinity Gem inside her in the most straightforward, quiet tone of voice and compliments the avengers and y’all be like ‘man she so arrogant I hope thanos can take her down a peg’ like??? just say you don’t like women owning their competency and Go

Summary: When Bucky gets injured during the war, he meets a nurse that’s unlike anyone he’s ever met before.

Pairing: 40s!Bucky x Reader

Word Count: 4019

Warnings: Fluff, feelings, and SMUT. Also, mentions of blood and war stuff.

A/N: This is a sort of prequel to Sugar, but it can definitely can be read as a stand alone or before Sugar if you prefer.

Pain is shooting through Bucky’s shoulder and down his arm, when a face appears in his field of vision, hovering over him where he lies in the med tent.

“Name? Rank?” The voice is brisk.

“Sergeant James Barnes,” he says, gritting his teeth, against the pain of a bullet in his shoulder. The nurse hums and moves closer, fingers prodding over the pain in his shoulder.

“This the only place you’ve been shot, Sergeant Barnes?”

A/N: Here’s the second chapter of the lumberjack au. I’m so happy for the positive feedback so far, you’re the best! Tags are the bottom and let me know if you want to be tagged!

While the first week of your staying was heaven, it became a living hell the next one. You didn’t exactly notice when the downfall started, but once you realized, you were already deep in the middle of it. On the bright side, you were writing again—but it pulled all the negative effects on you.

Solace - Chapter 1

AU where you’re a writer and Steve Rogers is a lumberjack who lives isolated in the woods

A/N: So here’s the first chapter of the lumberjack au I’v been talking so much about… I just hope you will love this as much as I do, because I became pretty obsessed with this idea. A HUGE thank you, hugs and all the love to @delos-mio for being my beta, a wonderful friend, and overall amazing. Special thanks to @reneeissancewrites too for requesting this! If you want to be tagged in the upcoming chapters, let me know!

Being alone and far away from the loud city was actually a lot better than you thought it would be. It was scary at first, especially the nights, when every little noise made you look to see what caused it, making you alert and even more aware that you were on your own in the middle of nowhere. Nonetheless, it was quite peaceful, spending the days alone with no obligations at all, devoting all of your time to yourself and doing things that you loved. Perhaps it was because you chose to live this way for a while, knowing friends and family waited at home, but you didn’t feel lonely at all—not yet.

The aesthetic of this is so on point.
