Thoughts on Namjoons’ Mono

Okay

Real talk

When Namjoon announced his 2nd solo album I was expecting something similar to his 1st one. I was expecting cursing and yelling and fast raps and heavy beats. Instead I got the complete opposite. I didn’t get Rap Monster; the teenager being hard with an underground rap background. I didn’t get RM; the leader of BTS that shows a good face and tries his best to keep everyone happy.

I saw mother fucking KIM NAMJOON.

I saw a 24 year old man who has been through hell and back and told us that everything really will be alright even if sometimes it doesn’t feel that way. A man who is still working on himself and yet still loves himself all the same. A man who told all of us that no matter who or what you are, to not be afraid to feel sad and cry because it’ll help you feel good later. A man who was told to give up his dreams and in response just told them to “watch me”. A man who wanted to talk and be heard; not yell and be yelled back at.

He made this album for himself and for all of us. Telling us that we’re not alone; saying that he feels all these emotions too. It really hit me hard. It made me feel and rethink things i haven’t touched in years. I owe this man a lot.
