Imho, Athena’s therapist sucks a little bit. Like a small child watching a movie totally could get a phobia or something. Idc if she’s normally a very brave, capable person. I mean maybe she’s not traumatized by the Poseidon show, and maybe it’s about more than that. But it’s still worth being like, “ok. I hear you. That could be scary for a kid. Let’s check in on that…” and then like actually talk that out a little before being like “… do you think it’s a bit more than that though?”
I know the show wants her to just be forced to talk about her fears with Bobby but I hate seeing a therapist dismiss their patient like that. Like yes, this fear of being on a boat that long is indeed being exacerbated by feeling an alienation from her husband and worrying that they won’t have anything to talk about or do without the chaos. But it’s clearly a real fear of hers! They could easily have had her talking with some random friend instead of the therapist, because to many shows normalize really shit therapy imho. So it’s dissapointing to see that here. Idk. That’s just my opinion, maybe it’s a method that works for her and others.
