Just as a preface, I have no real plans to be the presence on here that I was, and I don’t know if that’s going to change. Being a part of this fandom, on this platform and the others, used to be a sort of solace for me. I have to say that the way things went the past year and some - the general treatment of each other and the way I was treated during the last Big Bang - it broke me a little. This was no longer my community, and I even lost the love for Yu Yu after a while. No one should feel like they have to leave something like this over other people’s foul behaviour: fandom should be a safe and happy experience for all.
This isn’t that kind of post, though, so I’ll leave you all with the knowledge that I’ve gotten my love for YYH back and am going to keep working on my projects, whether or not I choose to share them again.

Hey all, I know that there's a ton of messages waiting for me and questions that you've all got, but just wanted to give a heads up that it's going to be a while before I get to them. A lots been going on, but presently my girlfriend and I are evacuating, as my place is almost certainly not going to survive the storm coming our way.

Because today has been one of those days where I don’t feel trans enough, don’t feel cis enough, don’t feel respected enough, don’t feel queer enough.
Why do I feel like I have to use my non-normative hormones as a justification for my existence? Why are these even conversations I’m forced to have?
Why do my so-called allies only use she/her* pronouns (*NOT female pronouns: pronouns do not themselves have gender) with me even when we’re in a space where it’s safe to use they/them? Why do they think it’s okay to refer to me as “girl” just because I have a visible bust?
Why is my dysphoria something that you need proof of? Why can’t I have moments where I celebrate my body and my sexuality for what it is?
Why is today not one of those days.

Gosh, am I behind! This first week has been a rough writing week with all this apartment hunting (yes friends - I’m moving again!), but what I don’t have in developed prose I’ve made up for in a strong, detailed outline. So far I know how long my story is going to be, my major plot points and characters, and my big ending twist! I’ve even got a few of the scenes fleshed out, though it’s not as much as I’d like - I’m still under the 5,000 word count but I’m close. I’ve got a whole day off tomorrow though, so let’s see how much I can crank out then!

You guys realize most BBs last for MONTHS right? Expecting people to crunch out fics upwards of 5/10k with no prep time in just a few weeks is probably why you had a lot of dropouts. Why not just extend the deadline by another month or 2? Give people time to produce lengthy, quality work, THAT'S the point - hence "BIG BANG". It just seems to me that you'd want to make it easier and ENCOURAGE people to participate, not brush them off bc they don't have an open schedule. Day 1 and I'm already smh
Hello! Actually, the point of a Big Bang is to encourage togetherness and collaboration - not to produce “quality” or “lengthy” work. Our timeline and minimum wordcount was decided with input from the community last year, which was overwhelmingly in favor of these rules.
Again, if you feel that you’re unable to meet these requirements, I suggest not participating. The entire BB has been moved to the summer months because our participants last year found them more accommodating than in the winter, when many of them had classes. Because their feedback is more important to me than an anon trolling a fun event, I’m going to keep the schedule as it is to avoid interfering with the start of school. Pushing back the dates would also be wholly unfair to artists, and many of them went above and beyond last year to make up for the few who did not.
There is NO expectation here. If you are not available to participate, then do not. For those who can, we’re going to keep this event as it is. From the many, many BBs that I’ve been a part of: dropouts are normal. More important is structuring the event firmly to keep it fair to everyone who does choose to participate.
Also, if you have a legitimate concern, please message the admin. Many of you came to me last year with special requests or needs, and we found ways to make this event more accessible for everyone by working together. I’m always willing to talk about what I can do to help you, so shoot me a message and we’ll do our best to make it work.
Also, maybe try not being an ass to the admin?
Listen, if there are concerns about anything, just send the BB a message. Talk about it. Don’t be like this. Last year, everyone worked together really well to not only get this event going, but to tailor it specifically to how we wanted it. In fact: I’m pretty sure I talked to more than half of you that I started out with just looking for feedback on how the event was structured. And, of course, I would never encourage someone to participate just to have more names on a list when an event like this could be stressful or potentially mentally burdensome for someone who can’t meet our deadlines.
We, as a fandom, are better than anonymous criticisms with no basis. This is the kind of fandom bullshit that I actually think we’re great at shutting down. We treat each other like people, we communicate instead of getting angry. So, please, whether or not you intend to participate in the BB: help me to spread the word that this kind of behavior isn’t going to fly here.
