- Reptile Calcium Powder

I haven't been able to find so much on diy recipes so here's the one I made for my snails! Let me know if you use or modify it- looking for more snailblr friends :)

Hey! I really love your recipe, but I have a suggestion. Snails know when they need and don’t need calcium, and will naturally go to wherever you supply it whether it be snello or cuttlefish bone. Putting calcium in their food forces them to intake more calcium than they need, and can eventually calcify their blood and organs if done over a period of time. I’d take out the calcium power and eggshells, and make some snello with it instead!

My blue mystery snail, Eeney is covered in algae and hasnt come out of his shell since I have seen him in the tank at the store. Its been SEVERAL hours and he doesnt reek of amonnia so I know he hasnt died. Anyone know if he is sad or starving or anything? The door for his foot is pulled further into his shell than ive seen my other snails do too is he just shy? I have an apple slice near him and Meany and Miney found it just fine but Eeney is still tucked away

I’m just worried

Algae is pretty normal, and happens to grow on snail shells just as well as any other surface in your tank, that’s nothing to worry about! It just sounds like he’s a bit lazy to me. How long have you had your snails, and did you quarantine them before putting them together?
