I remember when I first saw a post that showed the like/reblog ratio and saying how sad it made them. And I was so surprised. I was like oh! Well I don't want to actively insult someone by liking and not reblogging. So when I don't reblog I don't like. Even if I like the art but just don't want to reblog in that moment

no literally this. i have actually stopped liking art because i feel guilty about not also reblogging it which is... ugh. it's not fully my cup of tea, i don't want it on my blog, but i saw it and i did like it and think it was nice... yet, apparently only leaving likes is somehow insulting to the artists so i hesitate and then scroll away without interacting at all. i used to give out likes so freely. just little blips of acknowledgement for people but then like vs reblog culture got sooo toxic and I stopped knowing what was "appropriate" so I stopped doing anything at all.

Same but opposite approach! This is why I largely try to avoid the whole "only liking means they HATE it 🥺" thing because it never sat right with me. It will lead to this exact sort of lessening of engagement and genuinely who wants that?

I love reblogs and I love tags but I will never HATE a like, hello?? A like is someone who liked my writing. It's a kudos. I enjoy kudos on Ao3 even if that person didn't comment or share it anywhere. Why shouldn't I like a 'like' on other platforms too?

So I take the risk of "insulting" someone by liking content I don't necessarily reblog. Because I liked it! Here's a kudos and a number-go-up. I don't wanna get sucked into some game where the "I liked this!" button is bad. I'm slapping hearts left and right.

this is the mindset we all need to get back in to

i have a friend whomst I will not name in case they don’t want to be asked about this but they have a Very Specific and Terrible power which is, if you take the online BDSM quiz and then just simply mention you have, they can look at you for under ten seconds and just state your top result.

I can’t tell you anything more soul-shattering, any death more instant and devastating, any moment more harrowing to witness than someone saying “yeah i took the BDSM quiz once” only for my friend to no more than glance at them and then announce “brat” and the look in the person’s eyes is that of one who just tipped too far back in their chair

and they say xmen aren’t real

I think your friend might be an actual regular telepath who just figured out the funniest way to use their powers

i know it’s all just jokes but i think we should fr stop acting like the people around us don’t have inner lives. “npc” becoming an acceptable term to call people is very disturbing to me like genuinely idc if it’s not that deep…. plus the new phenomena of calling things you find no substance in “coworker music/movies/etc” like i get the conceit of the joke but i think when you refer to other people in that way consistently, you start to genuinely become convinced that people are just there to fill the background of your life, that they don’t have hobbies or families or lives beyond what you perceive, and that’s so bad. that’s sooooo bad to think of people

It is a really dehumanizing and objectifying way to use language for real. It shouldn't be that easy to write off those around you as insignificant. Like it is that deep to me. Even the people I interact with once in my lifetime for a few minutes are their own individuals with potential for pleasant interactions. And I i feel like that's what you're missing out on when you see people like npc's. The small talk that leads to making someone's day or finding out there's a cool event in your area or that someone else has similar struggles to you. Human to human connection can be simple and innate when you see others as real persons.

Y'all it...it's just a joke

yeah i supposed a terf with a pinned taylor swift post would say that huh

just the concept of a kid fusing with her dog... her dog that practically raised her since she was a small child and loves her so much that he'll bend the laws of physics to keep her safe. and now that love will always be a part of her, something that is both so comforting and so so isolating. she will never see him again

@choctalksalot THANK YOU THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS THINKING OF!!!!
