So . . . someone apparently nominated my fic, Lost Prince, for The Prince and the Heiress Annual Awards in the category of Best Canon Divergent.

I don’t know why they did that, but thank you!

I don’t expect to win this, mostly on account of the fact that Lost Prince isn’t a B/V fic--not primarily, at least. They are a side pairing.

But I did want to post a quick ‘thank you’ to whoever it was that nominated the story, as well as to The Prince and the Heiress Vegebul Writing and Art Community and @HannaBellLecter.

I don’t think my stories have ever been nominated for anything?? TBH, this is so shocking to me because like no one reads this fic. That being said, I’m glad it made that person happy, and they liked it enough to nominate it for an award. :)

Am I the only fanfic writer wondering if maybe Ronan was fine when Carol was there, but after she was gone, that’s when he went completely banana balls.

ya’ll see this? 25 glorious chapter so far and 100+ THOUSAND words. Ya’ll can also bask in my crappy 90s anime art! I know none of you will read it(or this), but that’s okay. Thankfully, I mostly don’t require outside validation in order to keep motivated to write. I’m aware that very few people will be interested in my work(with a couple rare exceptions in popular fandoms and ships) because much of my work is in unpopular or outdated fandoms and ships. If I can’t find what I want to read, then I will write it.

That being said, I don’t know if I would get discouraged if I posted 10 chapters of a fic and got like 2 comments and a couple kudos(which is exactly what happened with this fic, mind you). I don’t know if I would have given up or not, but I didn’t really give myself the option because I finished it before posting. I’m not allowing the story to get side-tracked like I did with BWG and I’m just editing as the chapters go up. I’m halfway done posting and it’s really very freeing.

Prologue + Chapters 1 - 4

This story sits with 170K words on a google doc. I’ve posted the prologue plus the first four chapters since yesterday. This story was sort of an obsession of mine this year but I did not want to release it until it was done, so please be assured that this will be completed in a timely manner. 

I know most of my followers aren’t here for this fic, however I should say that this story does bare some similarities to BWG. I very much changed the canon of Dragon Ball into something else and but still did my best to keep everyone in character. If you enjoyed the world-building and slow burn angst of BWG, you may like this fic too.

Anyway, hope you enjoy it. :)

Update

Ok so . . . I am alive. I pretty much spent my semester living at my school but my hard work paid off in the form of straight As for the first time in my entire school career. 

But I didn’t just work on school work. I also did some writing in my spare time and managed to add about 50K to the Dragonball fic I was already working on. Grand total for now is about 170K words. It’s not entirely fleshed out but all the scenes are there. I intend to start posting this today or tomorrow and I’ll be working on it/posting it through next semester. 

But more importantly, now that I have this story all done, I’ll be turning my attention back to Backwater Girls. 

My goal is to completely finish BWG by the end of the spring semester and begin posting again in the summer(or earlier if I manage to get done sooner).

I made a mistake in not getting every nitty gritty detail done before posting BWG. I’m usually very strict with myself about not posting until the fic is done because I hate hate HATE WIPs. At the time, I had never written anything as long as BWG, and I thought what I had was fine. 

Spoiler Alert: it wasn’t and by the time I got to the end, most everything needed to be completely rewritten and I’d totally run out of steam.

The same will not be said of the DBZ fic. It’s basically done with only minor adjustments needed going forward. I’ll be posting more about this fic today or tomorrow as it’s another of these fics where I’ve reimagined the canon into something familiar but told with an all-together different series of events.
