“it’s going to be WW3!!” no bitch it’s going to be vietnam, korea, afghanistan, it’s going to be another war wherein the US commits unspeakable and indefensible acts against a severely weakened people seeking self determination. it’s going to be another war where protesting is criminalized and “freedom of speech” is gutted in the interest of pushing propaganda. it’s going to be another nation of people added to the long list of victims of US imperialism and another demonstration of the strong undercurrent of fascism running through the foundation of america
Good news! It gets worse!
I think it's the galactic orbit thing that really did me in
literally cannot stop thinking about eddie getting all the way to the door and feeling something wrong and unsettled inside of himself as he reaches for the handle, thinking there's nothing he could ever do that would make me love him any less and i know that but does he and realising he hasn't quite done enough yet in this huge fucking moment, not necessarily for buck but for himself, because that's his best friend and he's just been deeply vulnerable and possibly changed things between them forever even if he's trying really hard not to think about that right then, so he stops. and he turns around. and he's orpheus. he loves eurydice so much he can't not turn around. buck walked out of hell, laid himself bare in front of eddie. and eddie said nothing will ever change between us and all he had to do was walk away but he couldn't. he couldn't. he just had to turn around to make sure buck would believe him through and through no matter what.
eddie making buck chris’ legal guardian if he dies is still so funny to me years later because like. bro if this was for normal reasons you would have picked someone with less than a 70% chance of being taken the fuck out right there with you
Okay cackling at this but also I'm also thinking Eddie did it exactly for this reason actually. He logically (nothing logical about this we're just following his insane thinking here stick with me) KNOWS that Buck could be taken out with him during a call. In fact, Buck could be taken out even without him there because it's in Buck's blood and soul to be Heroic™️. The entire point of The Will is that yeah, he really, really wants Buck to be Christopher's legal guardian. He knows Buck will do anything for Chris. He was thinking 'who would take care of Chris the way he needs if I'm gone' and it's an easy answer; Buck.
But the entire point of The Will is so that Buck will know that he has something waiting for him. The Will is so that Buck will do everything in his power to fight back if he's ever in peril. It's not just 'I want him to know he's not expandable' it's 'if Buck was ever stuck in a situation where he's dying then he needs to know that he has something to fight for'. The memories of Chris (and Buck) gave him the strength to literally crawl out from under 40 ft of mud and he wants that for Buck. If Buck's stuck 40 ft under mud with no way out and no rescue coming anytime soon, he wants Buck to have this to hold on to.
He wants Buck to know 'I have Chris and Eddie to go back to. I have to fight; if not for myself, then for them'. He wanted to give Buck the hope that they gave Eddie. So yeah, it's not just about naming him as their son's legal guardian, it's about letting Buck know that he has something to fight for. 'I'm giving you my son and my heart, please always fight to come back to us'. And THAT'S what's actually batshit insane about The Will.
There's a reason he did this after being buried underground, it wasn't just his mortality he was thinking about, it's Buck's too. So yeah, they might be taken out together during a call, but by gods both of them will have a goddamn fucking reason to fight and crawl their way through it for.

2 people have now suggested this post to me, and it is good. good leefs.
this quote from hbomberguy’s plagiarism video really resonated with me:
“creative people have trouble recognising their skills as skills, because eventually they feel like second nature. […] this stuff really is valuable. if it wasn’t, people wouldn’t be stealing it. creativity doesn’t feel special or unique until you realise people have to plagiarise it”
your craft is and always will be valuable, please never let anyone make you doubt that
anybody know what to do with it all
this always
