As an additional rule of thumb,

Always examine multiple sources if you're unfamiliar with what you're identifying. If you suspect a certain species, make sure these sources agree on its qualities (what color is the spore print, how do the gills connect, what type of pores does it have, does it have a skirt, is it found in your area, is it found during this time, etc etc).

This is far from the only or last instance of misinformation for identifications. Using multiple resources will help prevent you from being misled in the future.
