I wouldn’t have said anything if I hadn’t gotten a bunch of messages from writers who were hurt that very specific references to their fics had been made. That’s not cool.
There are a lot of different ways to be a fan. You might be like @lonelywiththestars and have been born a Bengals fan. You might be an LSU historian like @wickedfun9 who has an encyclopedic knowledge of all things college football. You might be Thee Hot Girl Editor like @burrow-ix and have millions of people watching your edits. You could be like @tigertales9 and create a wildly popular multi-chapter fic that hundreds of people love. You might be like @gothjoeburrow and provide a vital safe space for members of the Joemmunity that are often left under-recognized. You might be like @joeburreauxsworld who stays 10 toes down for Joe no matter what and provide much needed humor.
All of these creators and more have the common goal of making cool, original stuff that people can enjoy. They contribute to the fan experience in their own unique ways. To see someone who doesn’t make a single positive contribution try to attack them is never, ever going to fly with me.

“One date. Promise it will be worth your time.” he said followed by his signature half smirk, usual Barzal charm full of action.
“Don’t flatter yourself.”
“I’m serious, I wanna take you out on a date.”
“You don’t wanna date me, you wanna take me to your bed because I’m the only girl here that’s not dreaming of that.” You gestured to the rest of the bar, more precisely the girl standing nearby that wouldn’t take her eyes off him. “It’s kind of childish really, the more you can't have it the more you want it.”
“I don’t wanna take you to my bed.” Pause. “At least not at first.” He corrected himself followed by a wink, and if said wink caused butterflies in your stomach you were going to deny it till you died. “I wanna take you on a couple dates first.”
You deadpanned at him. He wasn’t being serious, he couldn’t be. It was Mat after all. That’s how your relationship was: he’d jokingly flirt with you, you’d turn him down. It was a game, your little playful dynamic. It was never real.
“I’m not joking.” he persisted. His tone made you doubt, it sounded like he was being genuine.
“What has gotten into you?” He looked away, there was something he wasn’t telling you and it made you equally curious and anxious not knowing. “Mathew spill it out. Right now.”
“It was an accident, okay? I swear I wasn’t eavesdropping or anything.” The way he was nervously defending himself beforehand only made you feel worse. Your heart started racing. No, there was no way he could’ve heard that- “Last friday at Beau’s, you were talking to Emma …”

There was nothing inherently weird about laying on Joe’s couch, her feet in his lap as he tapped on her calves intermediately with his fingers, for Y/N. It was basically the middle of the night for Joe, i.e. nearing 10:30 pm. His head kept falling to the side, his body trying to force him to fall asleep but he kept his eyes open and pierced to the screen in front of him.
Just five more minutes. Then ten, an hour, maybe two, and so on.
