Hey y'all I'm Jamie Kaye, an enthusiastic professional illustrator/comic artist and competitive swim coach living in Austin, Texas that's thirty or forty years old. Hey, it’s #webcomicday, and I’d super love it if you checked out my second long form comic, SHOT AND CHASER. It’s set in May 2020 in the Texas panhandle and is about destructive forces like tornadoes and shame.

About 2/3 done at 164 pages, and for mature readers. (No sex, drugs, or violence, but it’s all about the complicated gray-area mess of life.) CWs: takes place in early May 2020. Also CPTSD/past religious abuse is part of the plot. SHOT AND CHASER is mirrored on Tapas and ComicFury at a long delay, but it’s best read on its own independent site with no ads. I anticipate finishing it sometime in 2025. Cheers!

Even though it was my main style, I don't like watercoloring with bold inks because the lines and watercolors would fight each other. It didn't look natural. So for the last few years I've been inking with ballpoint pen and watercoloring on top of that. Usually I'd touch up afterwards with ballpoint pen again to bold some of the lines. But this time I tried out finishing with my brush pens and ink and I really like the look. I get to use my brush inking skills, but it works with the watercolors instead of fighting against them. Definitely a new stage with my art I feel.

#adding quill pens into the mix now though

My 2023 sketchbook is finally out!

40 pages in this baby, and I tried to do some more commentary than usual to make it worth people's time, I hope you enjoy! Since I'm spotty at tumblr (and upload my more doodly stuff to my other blog anyway) this is the best way to see all my stuff at once haha.

This was based on some writing by Moose/Bombusbombus that I could not stop thinking about.

I am....

So over committed hahaHAHAAHAHSS.

I'm helping with manga SFX, doing art for Minna Art Market, working on my Seijoh zine piece, and a fun practice boostle comic to the side. Then I'm about to have 7 weekends in a row with the exception of one where I'm either working a swim meet or a con. So I'll end up with three days off (ish) in the span of a month and a half.
