tried my hand at some human designs + doodles

the art gods possessed me to draw all of this in 2 days time.

I was actually just up in Ohio for the solar eclipse, and did you know, I'd never seen Spring before?

I thought I had, because down here in Florida we do get some flowers and nice green leaves as the weather shifts from cool to hot, but the trees are never bare and the flowers just blend in with the rest of the trees and in comparison this Actual Spring was some sort of magical wonderland, I swear to god, I've never seen anything like it

Apple blossoms???? are so pretty???????? the subtle changes of the colors, and they take up the whole tree and they're so damn beautiful????????????????? I had never seen them before, we don't have any apple trees down here at all, but now they might be my favorite flower

I'm familiar with cherry blossoms- we do have some cherry trees- but not like this. This tree was entirely pink and stood out so much! No leaves or anything on the trees, just flowers everywhere!!! I see why people like spring and cherry blossoms so much, I think.

And idek what these are but LOOK at that!!!!!!! Life and color!!!! Spring!!!!

So yeah. I went to Ohio and I thought it was beautiful and i wanted to share that with you. Your state is wonderful!!!

I live in central Texas, and there are a bunch of trees around. It's not uncommon to see huge, unbroken patches of greenery for miles when you're on the highway.

My boyfriend is Maltese, which is a pretty dry, rocky country. But when he went to Ireland for a semester, he was completely overwhelmed by how green it all was. And to me it looked basically like it does here, which wasn't very remarkable.

Last month, while I was on a drive, I saw these rolling hills and trees stretching to the horizon and found beauty where once I found mundanity.

I lived in aotearoa growing up and thought it was pretty average. was so excited to move away, but missing it for five years straight did something to me and now that I'm going back, I just can't get over how beautiful it is. when I visited last winter to look at uni options, I cried every few days just from how lucky I was, how beautiful it is, how much I missed it. even the things I used to think were shitty or boring have an odd kind of beauty now. freezing winter air became a sting of cold that I looked forward to every day because it made me feel So Alive. the birdlife became a spectacle and I would crane my neck to spot every bird I heard. it all just became so special. but it was always special, I just never realised before.

One of the funniest failures of US school system is the fact they are legally obligated to teach us all the states but they never actually show how big Alaska is like I have actually had teachers tell me that Texas is the biggest state. We have all just convinced ourselves that Alaska is that small shrunken down thing on most US maps and the people that know it's the largest state can almost never accurately describe how large it is.

It has a national park that’s bigger than maine. Or Switzerland. A park. 

I lived in Alaska for two years and I will never get over the sheer overwhelming bigness of it. 

Nights where the sky is clear you can see clusters of stars or the Northern Lights dancing. When the lights are rippling especially strong and fast you can hear a static crackle in the air. When the moon is out after it’s snowed, you don’t need flashlights to see. Everything glows and glimmers like polished quartz.  

But when the sky is clouded over so you can’t see the stars, you can kind of almost sense the mountains towering over you and helping to block out the light, these giant monoliths acting like this void darker than your soul. I’ve never experience night like Alaska night. 

Everything is big, the mountains, the sky, the valleys. 

And the dark.

Switching my language from “Israel is detaining Palestinians in the West Bank” to “Israel is abducting Palestinians in the West Bank” because that’s actually what’s happening. They are not detainees. They are hostages. Innocent Palestinians get taken from their homes randomly, held up in detention centers indefinitely, and subjected to the cruelest conditions on no basis other than “you might do something bad in the future, so we have a right to imprison you.” This is what Israel calls administrative detention—and through it they have managed to get away with kidnapping hundreds of innocent Palestinians.

This is an actual real thing that has kept Palestinians we have never heard, nor will we ever hear of, behind bars for years on end
