"Aqua! Merry Christmas!" Black Star scoops up the other in a loving embrace and twirls her around a couple times. "I'm so excited, aren't you?" Asked eagerly, before letting her go and walking back to the little kitchen to prepare drinks. While Black Star does this, a couple of her cats follow her into the kitchen.
The blue gem's face darkened in a mix of surprise and embarrassment at the physical touch, unsure how to react and respond to the display of affection apart from letting out a small chuckle and a barely audible "I am"
She really was, the idea of celebrating Christmas for the very first was a rather pleasing one, especially with someone who meant so much to her as Black Star did.
"Thank you for celebrating it with me,Stella"
"You're welcome!" Beams Black Star as she strides into the living room with two mugs of hot chocolate. The Diopside's had a tall pile of swirling whipped cream, while Aqua's had a smaller swirl. Since Black Star was unsure if the blue Gem would want as much as her.
"One of the things we do during Christmas is drink lots of hot chocolate!" She cheers, placing both cups on top of coasters on one of the side tables beside the couch. "But you gotta wait a couple minutes to cool down, otherwise you'll burn your mouth."
The smell of hot cocoa filled the room, unfamiliar to Aqua but not unpleasant. It smelled...sweet and somehow inviting. She was intrigued by the whipped cream on top, smiling slightly when she noticed how much more Black Star had put in her own drink.
"Seems that you like this thing if you put so much of it in your chocolate. What is it, anyway?" She asked as she grabbed the cup and brought it closer to herself to examine it.

"It's okay Aqua, it's something I've thought about a lot. I'd like my music to be remembered, let my songs carry my legacy when I pass on." She offered a reassuring smile, "death is a scary concept but it's a part of our lives and I just hope that it comes peacefully for me when I'm really old and lived my life."
"But I don't want you to die...."
The words are out of her mouth before she can fully process them. But she doesn't regret them, or try to go back on them, even if she is a bit embarrassed that the words slipped so easily.
"Death is just such a...strange and foreign concept to me. Gems do die sometimes, I know that but it's such a rare occurrence. And even when it does happen it's a subject gems don't really dwell on because..there's no place for a discussion like this in a place like Homeworld.."

"Thousands of years. Ever since people could write, we'd save copies of books in libraries so people could share the knowledge." Alya answered as she led the gem into town.
At first, Aqua didn't seem that impressed by the idea, but then she remembered humans lifespans were significantly short, making this revelation a lot more meaningful.
"Thousands of years? So that means there are books written by people who no longer exist, does it not?"
The concept was bittersweet to Aqua. It was remarkable that people could leave a trace of their existence in such a way that people living hundreds, even thousands of years after them could still learn from and enjoy the things they had written, but it was also a reminder that humans like Alya lived such short lives.
"Right, there are books written by people who died and they live on through their stories." Alya said looking over to Aqua, "No one is ever gone, they live on in memories, music, books, art. Humans try to leave behind a legacy so they won't be forgotten when they pass away."
There was a small pause after Alya said this, as the beryl thought about what her words. The concept of a legacy had never crossed her mind beforehand, as she had no reason to think about death back on Homeworld. But now that she had heard about it, her mind was running with questions.
"Do you...do you want to be remembered after you die ?"
The words had barely left her mouth that she already regretted them, thinking this was too much to ask. "I'm sorry, that...I didn't mean to say that"
