...guys

I might have finished this OMG IT TOOK ME THREE DAYS EOSMDKQKFKWKFK but I'm so happy with the result, damn

Coccinelle and Chat Noir from my AU, they're 20 years old, Coccinelle is head over heels for Chat (ofc he's head over heels for her, too), Chat's actually depressed after he discovered who his father really was, Nathalie died, and well, he found his mom's body in the basement........I mean, come on :")

Here they met for a late night patrol and ended up talking about, well, all sorts of things, and this is how the conversation went.

BTW, if you were wondering about the "Little Dot", I took it from Polish dubbing - instead of calling Ladybug "M'lady", he calls her "Kropeczka", which literally means "a little dot", and I thought it was super cute.

Guess what, after this conversation Coccinelle decided to wear her iconic pigtails again :") not always, but she will be wearing them from time to time in my drawings. God, I love this AU, can u tell

The idea of Ladybug and Chat Noir having official twitters has been living rent-free in my brain for days so take some really dumb “Official’ Ladynoir Twitter interactions

Miraculous Ladybug has an impressively large fandom for a show that’s released out of order in five different languages featuring content that the producer spoiled three months earlier while the head writer whines about fans on Twitter.

No, this is actually a really good example of why a fandom is necessary for the prosperity of any form of media!

Miraculous Ladybug is a show that many people agree has one of the most wasted potentials. It has a lucklaster continuity, shaby redemption arcs, and some of the least developed characters, despite what some writers may argue. It’s full of life lessons that it doesn’t listen to, and can sometimes fall into tropes that it shames. Honestly, I’m not sure why it got popular.

I do know, however, why it stayed popular. The Fandom!

Now don’t get me wrong, fandoms do have a tendency to do…less than reputable things to/for a show (I’m looking at you supernatural fandom). But Miraculous Ladybug is one of the rarities that’s done really great things for the show.

We have piles upon piles of fan works that range from sweet to sorrowful, angsty to fluffy. You can find stories that turn miraculous Ladybug into something straight out of a horror movie, or into something from a fairy tale!

You have pieces of fan art for the most minor of characters! Au’s that are publicaly shared and explored! Entire headcannons that have been become so popular, most people assume they’re cannon.

People who take things the writers tried to do, and actually go through with it. Chloe redemptions, identity reveals, kwami swaps, Miraculous Ladybug itself!

I’m not saying it’s a perfect fandom, or even the best fandom. I just think it’s one that definitely made the most out of a bad situation!

You’re right and you should say it

I have not watched an episode of ML since the end of season 1. Everything I've seen since then was screencaps and clips on Tumblr or Twitter, but it doesn't matter anyway because I enjoy the fandom content infinitely more than the canon show. ML is an interesting case where the production team created a fantastic foundation of characters, concepts, and story...then completely squandered it while the fandom took it like an olympic baton and sprinted off to make amazing content. There are some fics that just flat out outclass the actual show and nowadays there's an AU for just about anything you could want. In fairness as well though, the fandom is able to explore a lot of the dark, complex, and/or intense issues that a pair of teenage superheros might face while living double lives and being thrown against a globally devastating threat. The kids show can't really do that with their time and content/rating restraints.

HEY ARTISTS!

Do you design a lot of characters living in not-modern eras and you’re tired of combing through google for the perfect outfit references? Well I got good news for you kiddo, this website has you covered! Originally @modmad made a post about it, but her link stopped working and I managed to fix it, so here’s a new post. Basically, this is a costume rental website for plays and stage shows and what not, they have outfits for several different decades from medieval to the 1980s. LOOK AT THIS SELECTION:

OPEN ANY CATEGORY AND OH LORDY–

There’s a lot of really specific stuff in here, I design a lot of 1930s characters for my ask blog and with more chapters on the way for the game it belongs to I’m gonna be designing more, and this website is going to be an invaluable reference. I hope this can be useful to my other fellow artists as well! :)
