The anti-car culture on this website is so fucking annoying. Like, sorry I want to be able to get around without having to spend two hours taking three buses. Sorry I want to be able to go grocery shopping in the winter without having to lug heavy bags home through the snow on a fucking bike
so you agree that getting around most american cities in a convenient and timely fashion is impossible without a car? that public transit is largely non-functional to the point that people are forced to decide whether to sacrifice significant chunks of time, energy, or straight up cash?
you agree that most american cities have been constructed in such a way that demands using a car? that those cities are incredibly hostile to people who don’t have a car?
it’s not “anti-car” culture, it’s anti “car-culture,” and it sounds like you think it fucking sucks, too.

anytime someone is like 'uh sorry public transport lovers but i like driving and you'll never catch me in a train' it's also like.
better public transport is beneficial for you even if you never set foot in a bus or train your entire life, because it means less traffic for you in your beloved car tearing up the road

okay i’m convinced some of you are just lying because there is no way all of us at age 6 knew how audio worked.
okay so
- yes i had cds but i thought cds were like magical
- i was not in a home movies type of family
- i did watch americas funniest home videos a lot as a kid though but i thought they were also doing all that stuff in real time
- i thought cartoons were real until i was 11 when i tried sending a love confession letter to plankton from spongebob to which my dad begrudgingly went along with, until the lady at the post office told me Honey, you Can’t Send Letters to bikini bottom. I cant do that. I’m Sorry. and denied the letter and i cried so hard in the car ride back that when i got home i tried to eat the rug in my bedroom (thinking it would kill me and i was hoping to die since plankton wasn’t real) and then i passed out on the rug and my parents had to send me to a school therapist for the rest of my upbringing
- i was not very smart as a child.

I hit a pothole (a Michigan pothole so basically a sinkhole) today and my check engine light came on. I don’t have one of those computer plugins to reset the light and I knew it was just a sensor that got knocked so I was just like “well let’s see if this works” and on the way home I swerved and hit the pothole again and the check engine light turned off
I just googled “Michigan Pothole”
IS THIS STATE OKAY??????

The way you change your immediate reactions to things is that you catch yourself having an uncharitable/bigoted/overly judgmental thought and you catch it and replace it and then you do that a hundred times a day for your whole life and eventually one day like five years later you realize that you think differently now and you’ll always be working on something but that’s how life goes and that’s fine.
