Looking at it in his conversation with Clark it seems like the first word starts with a Q (queer?) and the second with a C but other than that I can't read it, and haven't found a clearer shot yet

Ok um Old Blood Critters, I Need Help!

So I have known about critical role for a long time, but ive been too intimidated by "4 hour episodes" 100's of episodes" ya know how it is, but i have been watching TLOVM! And its been amazing! And i wanna watch the campaign!

So i tried just jumping right into he first episode, but between the technical difficulties (which i know get resolved pretty quick) and the sorta "figuring out what we're doing with this whole live stream thing" vibes, i just cannot do the first episode. I would definitely be willing to come back and listen to whatever i skip later, once I'm more accustomed to what CritRole is doing, its just not working for me right now

So my question is this: where do you suggest i start? Whats the equivalent of homestuck's "skip to the trolls"

To the Movie!Venom fandom

(A note upfront for the comics fans: I have not read the comics, only seen a few panels here on tumblr, and I did not bother to re-look at those before i wrote this. If this does not apply at all to the comics / the fandom for the comics, then this is absolutely not directed at you)

Also Upfront: I am aware that this is totally just a pet peeve and doesn't matter in the slightest, so if you like what I'm about to complain about, all the power to you, write and read whatever you want

All that said please please fic writers, stop having the symbiote refer to itself with We/Us, and say things like "we love you eddie" Venom (the collective being of Eddie and his symbiote (henceforth referred to as Vee, so i can stop having to misspell symbiote) uses We/Us yes, but specifically Vee? Uses I/Me. Like canonically, in the dialogue

I would be somewhat more understanding if it was a worldbuilding/lore thing with the klyntar, but like 1) it rarely is, its usually just the "the alien doesn't understand the intracacy of human language" trope (joke?), and 2) that doesn't even make sense? Like oh yeah "the klyntar as a species are so interconnected they dont even have a concept of the singular entity" is well and good, but like. Vee's got access to Eddies memories? And for sometime had access to Maria's and Ann's, so it has no reason to not have an understanding of English that is just as complete as those people's.

I'm pretty sure this largely comes from the "We Are Venom" line from the end of the first movie, which. Really just feels like a total misinterpretation of what that line actually means! It's supposed to give a little bit of a look at what symbiosis is like, drive home the idea of symbiosis as like. Complete Connectedness. Because its Venom saying it, its both Eddie And Vee Together

I dont know, I'm usually all for hcs that like actively flout canon, I usually find that fun, but this one just gets on my nerves so bad. Maybe just cause it clashes with my personal hcs too much. Whatever

Ok. Ok. Oh my god ok, so what Misha said has kinda solidified an idea ive been half thinking about since nov 5, which is that like. The line about "the happiness isnt in the having, its in the just saying it" or however it goes exactly, i dont like it. Or i dont like taking it as a literal truth. Cause like, its a nice sentiment, but its also a bullshit copout ya know? However if we take it was Cas telling himself that, because he thinks dean jsnt gonna reciprocate, but he knows he needs to still be happy (so his SELF SACRIFICE will still work), and then he gets this whole speech out and the empty doesnt come for him so he looks up at dean (I SAW LOVE IN HIS EYES) and thats when the empty shows up. When he forgets what's happening for a moment, and just realizes that he was wrong (that THERE WAS LOVE IN HIS EYES) (that he CAN have what he wants) im more happy with that
