Jack stared at strange....bird-like person, then chuckled. “Well yes, I am,” He lied as pulled out his deck of cards from his jacket. “Want me to show you?”

“Now don’t be rude,” the demon purrs, sauntering up to Jack’s side. The eerie tendrils of ghoulish magic that drift along his claws flare up as he set his talons on the very edges of the book. The pungent scent of the demon’s ethereal fire snapped in the air, and suddenly the pages caught ablaze with teal fire in jack’s hands. 

“I came all this way to pay ya a visit, my boy. And I know how much ya love my company. Let’s not trifle with anythin’ as silly as books.”

The world had gave him a lot of patience but it certainly did not give him enough to deal with this Demon. A deeper breath filled his lungs as he watched the book burn in his hand and exhales as the last of it fell to the ground as a small camp fire. It burned when the fire crossed over his palms and left a bright red marks on it, yet he just stood there. “I love it so much, I almost really hate it.” a forced smile on his lips as he rubbed his hands together pushing the Demon to the side so he could grab something cold to calm the pain.

“That’s a lot of love, sweetheart,” he drawled, not bothering to hide the smile full of fangs on his visage. “And for lil’ ole me? See, I knew you couldn’t go without me.”

The shove is disregarded. He hardly felt it through the heavy breastplate anyway. What was more important was the defeated anger behind the action. The tightness to Jack’s shoulders as he tried to walk away. But Fate wasn’t about to let his prey go that easily. The click of his boot heels trail Jack, keeping not far behind. Close enough now to run his claws through the blond’s hair.

“Mm, reminds me: how’s that pretty little whore of yours? The feisty one with the pretty eyes- Ezreal, wasn’t it? I haven’t paid him a visit in a while either. Maybe I should~”

A hand reached up to the bridge of Jack’s nose and he pressed down hard, swallowing the anger and annoyance of the Demon beside him. He knew how to tick off Jack each and every time, but when you are hundreds of years old, its understandable. Out of everyone in this world, why does he have to be the one having to deal with his presence.  A deep breath and a heavy release. Calm.

“He’s doing well.” Jack spoke, organizing through his books and papers, occasionally making sure Fate didn’t touch them. A simple brush or a slap of the hand.
