Fanart for Flavus’s fic Everybody’s Chasing Something!  This is the (extremely dangerous Hunter style) Amazing Race AU I was enthusing about earlier, with a colorful cast of characters to partner and compete against each other for the thing they want most in the world.  Mix in Pariston and Ging with Gon?  Mix in Kurapika with Pakunoda and Machi?  Mix in Illumi and Hisoka with Killua and Gon?  WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

Details from my first drawing for Danganphobia’s Hunter x Hunter Bing Bang 2021 fic titled hey (take me away).  Captions below:

Image 1: Kurapika, red outline on dark red background that fades to black.  Kurapika is leaning casually against their car, pushing their sunglasses up on their head.  I tried to pick the most Mafia Boss Car I could find and settled on a Lincoln Towncar.  Kurapika is wearing a jacket, a knee length skirt and stiletto heels that could kill a man.  Their hair is up in a loose bun.  The background features a pattern of derringer guns and chains.

UGH TUMBLR WHY DID YOU MAKE THE IMAGE OF KURAPIKA SO MUCH SMALLER THAN THE OTHERS I DON’T KNOW HOW TO FIX THIS.  Anyway, moving on.

Why burgers and grapes you ask?  Why the Pickled Peppers band?  It’s a nod to Danganphobia’s fic Doctor’s Order.  If you haven’t already read that one before hey (take me away) GO READ IT NOW!  Only if you’re over 18 though, because Doctor’s Order is the glorious product of a dirty mind. xD

This year it’s cowboy werewolves set in parallel west 1878 🤠🐺

Pairings: Story first with Leorio/Kurapika, Leorio/Pietro

Character roster:

Summary: Kurapika joins the HxH Hunters Association, a contractor, for the express purpose of hunting down the werewolf that annihilated his clan. The trail leads him all the way out to the lonely, piss poor town of Anstock that is being ravaged by a werewolf they refer to as “The Big One.” Kurapika, consumed by a thirst for revenge, believes he is at the end of his life’s journey. But killing this daunting monster from his past proves a greater challenge than he anticipated. Kurapika must confront his long-held beliefs about his life’s purpose. But to change requires growth, and growth is usually transformative and ugly.

Author’s note: This was a crazy self imposed gauntlet to write for, I started making notes for this last October and continued all through the year XD I never wrote so much in my life. I stuck to the plot beat but it just kept deepening and widening. I ended up putting way too much energy into this so it’s time to relax 😂I hope you like it!

Witness my entry for this years @hxhbb2021​, a scene from @keiharui​s lovely fic Line Down West-Fourth. I chose to do a drypoint print on 240g intaglio paper in black ink.

Have a glimpse of my printing process down below - with my sketch (in blue), which i scanned and inverted as a base for my printing plate (grey) and finally the plate with some residue ink left after printing on top of my printing press.

Thanks @keiharui​ for your patience and for the inspiration for this hopefully appropriately chaotic scene. I had a lot of fun :)
