A little video we all should take a moment to watch and think about.

Instead of thinking about what divides us we should think about what we have in common…

I’ve reblogged this on every account I have.

❤No words.🙊

What is a Caregiver?

The basic description of a Caregiver (in the CG/L community) is pretty self explanatory….. Is it a person who provides care for a little. Littles and Caregivers all vary, so many littles have different needs that they will want from their Caregiver.

Basic Caregiver duties…

- Make sure your little eats right! Be aware of your littles individual dietary needs and make sure they are eating regularly and what they need to stay fit and healthy (If your little has trouble eating, make the experience fun, with themed crockery/utensils and vary their meals - lots of color and fun shaped foods always go down well!)

- Hydration! make sure your little is drinking plenty of water!!! Flavoured water is a good alternative if they don’t like it, but do try to encourage them! Fun sippes/cups/straws help!

- Personal hygiene! Lots of littles are far too distracted thinking about their next coloring or imaginary adventure to remember to look after themselves so remind your little to brush their teeth, go to the toilet, wash their hands, take showers/baths and generally keep their appearance clean and tidy (if your little needs help getting dressed or even choosing their clothing for the day remember to help and encourage as best you can). Personalised bathroom toys/accessories make it more fun, especially bubbles!! If your little is diapered then it is your responsibility to check them and change them regularly so that they don’t get sore bums and stay fresh and clean (make sure you have the right size dips for your little and keep powder/lotion/wipes handy if needed)

- SAFETY!! Littles are EASILY distracted so you need to keep a close eye on them and keep them educated in dangers surrounding them… Eg, hold your littles hand at when crossing the road, cut up your littles meals if needed, reach up to grab whatever your little may want rather than let them risk slipping. Places like the kitchen and bathroom will be the main areas of concern, so stay close if they need you to avoid accidents and ouchies!! In the event of a boo-boo (they always manage to happen) keep a little first aid kit personalised to your littles needs, where you can keep their meds (if they take and you are in charge of) plasters, anti-septic wipes and maybe a lolly or two for super brave Princes and Princesses.

- General happiness and well-being. You will know your little well enough to know what keeps them happy and contented. For most littles this is quite basically your love and approval, always offer PLENTY of love and support, encouragement and praise! Always keep communication open and honest  with your little, they need to be able to talk to you and express themselves properly in order for you to know they are okay. Spending quality time together is essential, whether it be one on one or other communication, a little just needs to know you care, think about them and love them enough to want to talk and share with them. NEVER let your little feel like they are too needy or an inconvenience, your little relies on you to reassure them that are perfect in all the ways you see that they are. Keep your little active physically and mentally. Exercise is essential for good health so dependant on your littles person circumstances/needs try and help them stay active in a way they will enjoy and have fun! Swimming is a favourite of mine! Help your little challenge themselves and teach them something new every now and then, the feeling of achievement will help their confidence and only add to their beautiful growth as your little.

- Bedtime! Every little needs their beauty sleep (it’s exhausting being so adorable) so it is essential to make sure your little gets the rest they need. Set a bedtime if necessary and make sure they have everything they need to have a good nights rest eg… Fav stuffie/blankie/pillow etc, bedtime story, drink/snack, night-light, comfy PJs AND ALWAYS MAKE SURE THEY GO TO SLEEP WITH A SMILE KNOWING HOW MUCH YOU LOVE THEM.

- Treats and Punishments! You will need to establish some rules for your little, these will be individual for them and their needs!! Rewards and punishments MUST ALWAYS BE fair, fitting, discussed and agreed upon between you both. Always offer rewards for good behaviour/following the rules/completing chores and use punishments to correct any of these SAFELY, below is a link to a more in depth guide to rules/punishments and rewards.

Helpful links….

Always remember to love and cherish your little. They look up to you for guidance, wisdom, love and support and will repay you with their unique and all encompassing adoration. Always be fair and understanding toward your little, they are delicate and mostly just want to make you proud.

Remember your relationship with your little is unique and they will have their own special needs so please always talk to your little, ask if they’re happy, if they need anything more from you and above all make them feel special, loved and completely cared for.
