#clextober19 #day13

A Pinch of Magic.

It’s no secret that magic still exists in the world although it is nowhere near as common as it may have been at one point in time. In fact, these days it’s quite rare. Those who do still have magic keep it mostly to themselves for their own safety and that includes Lexa and her family.

So what happens when a spell goes wrong and her secret is reveled?

Giving this a little bump up in case anyone wants to go back a read this series since the stuff I’m doing for #clextober2021 is set in the same universe!

Happy Clextober2021!

Here is a snippet of Day 1: Red, Orange, and Yellow!

Out of the four seasons Lexa has always loved fall the most. It wasn’t because the world put such an emphasis on magic and witches due to the October Halloween holiday. Most of that was factually incorrect and if anything only annoyed her. Instead her love of fall came from the colors. The reds, oranges, and yellows that the leaves changed too. The small markets that pop up around town that have scarecrows and pumpkins. Those same pumpkins then carved into jack-o-lanterns standing guard on her neighbors front porches. She loved it for the cornfield maze at the edge of town that she got lost in as a small child and cried in until her mom found her. The same maze she has gone back to every year since then. But most of all her love for the fall stems from the overall cozy comfort that she feels during the season. The chilly air that replaces the summer heat and humidity. Early mornings on the balcony with a hot cup of coffee and her favorite blanket wrapped around her as she reads a chapter or two of her book.

This morning was a perfect example of just that only she had one thing better. She had Clarke wrapped up in the blanket with her reading a book of her own. Clarke had officially moved in with Lexa the month before but has had such a crazy month at the hospital that they’ve barely gotten to spend any of their time just relaxing together at home. “How does it feel knowing you have the next four days off?” She asks running her hand up and down Clarkes side, causing the blonde to snuggle further into her. Clarke closes her book and turns her head to settle into Lexa’s chest.

so here’s really why i love it. and it’s easy. it’s simple. it’s obvious. (nothing about bly is too subtle.) it’s all kind of right there, and so is this:

there’s no homophobia in bly. or at least, not at bly. eddie is a butt to dani but that’s more about his broken heart than it is about the fact that she’s gay. jamie doesn’t speak to her family because of her family trauma/issues, not because she likes girls. owen + hannah (done dirty but that’s another post) think dani + jamie are cute and sweet and should definitely go get that drink sometime. henry wishes them luck (and probs funds their flower shop initially lesbihonest). no one at the party is like, ‘a homo love story? get outta here.’

it’s like that thing dan levy said once about the schitt’s creek universe: when you “create a space where love and acceptance are paramount” you show how bigoted those homophobic beliefs are and you show what “shouldn’t exist” in our society anymore.

and that’s why i cried so hard when jamie rubbed dani’s shoulder over a bathtub full of fear and anger and the end of days. that’s why i cried so hard when jamie screamed as she broke the surface, and when —– flora said it wasn’t a ghost story but a love story. that’s why i cried so hard as jamie filled the sink and the tub and cracked the door and slept in a chair waiting for her lady love. their love was so real and so vast and so changeable but never-ending. and simultaneously, so accepted?

like i said. simple. obvious. but meaningful.

Hey Friends, Chapter 7 is up! (Read it Here)

Overall summary:

Clarke Griffin has just been hired to co-anchor WPLS’s highest rated news broadcast. On her first day she meets Lexa Woods, the producer of the show and she is immediately taken by her.

Lexa has been producing the same show for a over a year now but there is something about her new anchor that she just can’t explain.

What becomes of their relationship in just a months worth of time?

(or An Au about a News station where these two work together and therefore shouldn’t be together but what kind of story would that make?)

hope you got home safely. my favorite cocktails to make are ones i made up—butter pecan ice cream, blue lemonade, pineapple upside-down cake, etc. but i am more of a beer or wine girl. i do really love rum, scotch, and brandy, but neat or with an ice cube. however, liquor doesn’t sit as well with me as beer or wine. your dog is pretty damned adorable. we have a 4.5 pound chihuahua called “killer goat bruiser” that we are both obsessed with. we usually take her with us when we travel! -ss

Happy New Year! Hope you NYE was a good time even though you had to go out!

I’m home safe and sound. Those drinks sound good! I’m intrigued by the blue lemonade the most. I’m definitely mostly beer if I drink. I work nights (and weekends) so I actually don’t really drink that much anymore.

Killer goat bruiser is great lol! I wish we could take my dog traveling with us but unfortunately we don’t. How can you not obsess over them? They are our babies!
