“Funny you should ask - just got out of my senior prom,” she joked, her own glass rising to upturned lips. Fortunately, her answer was mundane enough she didn’t need to waste any time making it vague. “Used to waking up early. Busy work week which leaves me with less opportunity to indulge in a drink if I want one, have to make the off days count. Were you In Mexico on business, or vacation?” He looked put-together enough for the former to be plausible, and it kept conversation going. Drinking at five she could justify; drinking alone at five was a different ballgame.
“A little bit of both, actually,” Jon replied as he sipped his drink. He had been dealing with a cartel out of Quintana Roo the entire time he was there. Cracking skulls, hauling men off to the police, that kind of thing. Being Superman’s son, he had thought that he would be defending the earth from aliens, but he was defending it from the scum of the earth instead.
“More the latter than the former, though,” he said relaxing a little. “My girlfriend decided to spend the entire winter in Cancun and so I go down there from to time to keep her company.”

“A pity. Speaking from experience, a lot of the most interesting people are out around now. Not necessarily pleasant, but interesting.” Though the merit of regular sleep didn’t escape her, it was difficult to imagine even as an exaggeration.
“Is this an event of prom-level importance, or is that coincidental?”
“I just got back from Mexico,” Jon replied as he reached for his drink and smiled. He wasn’t particularly keen on interesting people. He ran into many of them in his line of work. “For some reason, I have all of this extra energy left over. So, I decided to blow it drinking at bar. What brings you to Margaritaville at five o’clock in the morning?”

❝ uh … FULL OFFENSE. i could definitely pass for an amazonian warrior, just look at these guns. ❞ of which there were none to flex before him. ❝ c’mon jon, that would make you .. what, half alien ? full ET ? ❞
“I wish,” Jon said shaking his head and chuckling. “Only half, sadly. I sometimes wish I could have the Full Kryptonian Experience, as my father likes to call it, but I never have. No dead parents or flying through space as a baby for me. I was born in Metropolis in a hospital just like everybody else. Nothing special about that.”
❝ wow what a coincidence, my father is WONDER WOMAN. she just doesn’t know it yet. ❞
“Are you sure about that? I’ve known Diana Prince since I was in diapers and you don’t look very Amazonian to me, Jessica. No offense.”

“The last time I was up this early was at my senior prom,” Jon admitted with a sheepish grin.

"Is this a bad time to tell you that my father is Superman?”
