STOP. STEALING. FICS.
I’m sure some of you know what it’s like to have your fics, and I’ve been a victim multiple times, especially with my On Patrol series. BUT THIS TIME, someone had the audacity to not only steal all the chapters over the course of a few MONTHS, but also leave comments as if they are the sole writer of the fic. Someone notified me of this wattpad account and I contacted them about it...only to have my messages DELETED and the fics deleted without a proper apology (and just some horrible, BS excuse which will be shown below). They denied the accusation, and after multiple warnings that they chose to ignore, I have decided to make this post (as I have warned). THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
“I really appreciate you guys for supporting me”????? “I’m sorry for the slow updates”???? Seriously? After you steal my work, you think this is acceptable to pretend as if you’re writing each and every chapter? How dare you. I spend the little free time I have working hard to pump out each chapter and YOU go and apologize to others as if you’re the one struggling to get them up?
Yup that’s the EXACT same fic alright.
Seriously? “The best ideas come to you when you’re studying or doing homework”? A pretty damn solid proof that you’re taking credit for MY work as if you’re coming up with these ideas while “studying.” Disgusting. Absolutely disgusting.
The only excuse I got from the account was that it was a shared account with a friend and that the friend took my fic and deleted my link to it and that the person I spoke to didn’t have knowledge for this for MONTHS on a shared account. And when I asked to speak to this “friend” all I got was that the person can’t be reached. I told them to stop deleting my message requesting a public apology and I posted my 4TH one yesterday, ONLY TO BE DELETED AGAIN WITHOUT AN APOLOGY. And boy, I have even more evidence of this BS but they don’t even seem necessary with the one’s I’ve already posted.
This is disgusting. Fanfic writers, including myself, spend hours after hours working on these fics for free so that others can enjoy them. It’s meant to be a positive experience for everyone. I’ve had MULTIPLE wattpad accounts steal my work but this is the first time someone had gone this far (other deleted their account entirely) and gave me BULLSHIT excuses that’s not even passable by any means. Don’t take me for an idiot, because that’s just offensive. I have already been struggling to update my fics for a while now, and seeing this? This kind of behavior makes me just want to go on a long hiatus, knowing this is a possibility for anyone.
