Mollymauk Tealeaf- Name Analysis

Nobody who follows me here is into Critical Role, but i need to make this post somewhere!

PAST NAMES

Nonagon-

nonagon (plural nonagons) is a polygon with nine sides and nine angles. This could be a reference to the nine eye tattoos that grace his body.

Lucien-

French and Roman origin meaning Light or To Shine, coming from the latin word 'Lux'.

CURRENT NAME

Mollymauk-

The mollymawks are a group of medium-sized albatrosses. These are often mistaken for swans- To call someone a Mollymawk, is to call them something ugly which is mistaken for something beautiful. They are also known by sailors to be birds of death and ghostly energy.

Molly-

Molly is a name of irish origin (Similar to Mollymauk himself), however, to call someone a Molly or a Moll is to call them a prostitute, or a whore. This was viewed as a dirty insult.

Mauk-

Meaning short tempered. Mauk is also a play on the word mock- as in mockery.

Tealeaf-

Molly is a fortune teller and of Irish traveler origin with pagan influence, so tealeaf could be a nod to reading tealeaves. Tealeaf also means a thief.

M.T-

His initials. M.T stands for Mollymauk Tealeaf- But said phonetically sounds like EmT. Or Empty, which was all he could say after coming back from the dead. M.T= Empty.

Mollymauk Tealeaf named himself and that makes this post VERY SAD

They tried to match outfits (yes, Crowley is wearing Aziraphale’s watch).
