Canine Compassion

The returning bark only managed to excite Cork further, giving another yip as if to respond to his question; the spray of snow only made him quake in his fur even more, the corgi getting up from his position to run in a small circle before plopping his head down into the snow again. A nub of a tail swished, a small snout curling back to expose a tiny maw as the pup gave frisky little bites to the cold air. He didn’t mean for the quick snaps of his jaw to be hostile towards AD – he was still young, and nibbling was still very much a part of his play routine.
Bear, in comparison, only gave a huff as he was pounced on. It wasn’t that he didn’t like the other, he just followed his stomach more than he followed his brain. The bones had called to him, made his fur stand up on end, and now here he was with a stranger crying out and diving into the snow while his adoptive brother ran over and started nipping at him lightly. If he wasn’t so focused on eating, maybe he’d even have the heart to engage in play. He’d warm up eventually.
Sans all the while just observed, amused. Even though he was aware the the dog-like monsters of Snowdin were prone to follow animalistic senses, he couldn’t help but still find it adorable. His SOUL swelled in his chest as he felt like his ribs were closing around it. God, he fucking loved dogs. They were so cute.

“Sounds like a fun time.”

If Cork managed to catch Adventure Dog in their romping, it was likely he’d get a mouth full of fur. Even if he did catch an ear, it wouldn’t hurt the pup, not really. AD was a sturdy one-- even if he was the runt of his litter.

But oftentimes he was alone; all his siblings and parents were off doing Royal Guard stuff or he was out adventuring by himself.

He was glad for the sudden playtime. He didn’t want to admit it but exploring by himself was only so much fun. Probably why he returned to Snowdin so often.

The pup tousled with Cork until he was quite lost in it, only remembering someone was watching when Sans spoke again.

“Hah-Hah-!” Adventure Dog panted, “Yeah! But this is way more fun!” He said jovially, “I haven't gotten to play like that in a while!”

And he was quite grateful for the opportunity.

“My name’s Adventure Dog! Did I say that already? Nice to meet you!”
