I don't trust people, especially companies, who claim to be lgbt friendly but happily throw the word queer around.
I don't appreciate getting called a slur regardless of their intention.
I am fine with using the word myself or about myself. But I do not want other people, especially non lgbt people, to call me queer.
I don't get why some people decided for the WHOLE community to reclaim the word? Tons and tons of lgbt people are still grealty affected by it and the word is still used negatively towards us. I have no problem if you reclaim the word for yourself, I think that that's powerful, but you can't make that decision for others.
I feel like if people realized sexuality was about WHO you are attracted to and not HOW you express your attraction they wouldn’t be ripping apart the bisexual community with new words because some people prefer women 51% of the time and men only 49% or whatever. I’m begging you to pick up a book on bisexual history and to understand the historical fluidity of the term. Don’t care about gender? You’re bi. Care about gender? You’re bi. Prefer one gender over the other? You’re bi. These are personal preferences and don’t deserve their own label when they completely go against 50+ years of history.
Turns out this has nothing to do with the plague, it’s even weirder than that - during the Renaissance, Florence didn’t collect any taxes on wine produced ‘for the family’. So obviously some of the city’s richest men decided they’d start selling their wines directly from their own homes instead of selling it through restaurants, thus making a lot more money (no taxes and no middle man). Wine could be bought by the bottle or by the glass, and the fact the customers didn’t set foot inside the house probably a) prevented theft and b) preserved the illusion that the place was not a place of trade.

Some of the able-bodied people in my life are insisting that I’m being too cautious now that the lockdown rules have relaxed. I’m very high risk, I’m now allowed into shops and houses, but I’m still not going anywhere as I don’t want to take the risk. I feel like they are judging me for being careful with my life. Meanwhile, they meet up with friends and family and don’t even stick to social distancing anymore [the rule here is that you still need to], but I’m the one in the wrong?!
