Sammy was the best kitty

He came into our lives as an orphaned little ball of fluff in need of a forever home, and left us a home that is forever his. He was the purrsonification of comfort and love, willing and ready to follow me anywhere he saw me going, full of big purrs and cuddles, and always ready to groom his family with warm licks.

We will miss you. The world is made so much darker with your passing, and we must console ourselves with the knowledge you are beyond all suffering, and we have 14 wonderful years of you to hold onto. May this ensure that some small part of the internet remain forever Samwise.

Yesterday marked a year since Sammy died.

I spent yesterday cleaning up the garden around where we buried him, putting white flowers on his grave, then working on a project in the sunlight next to him.

I'm still gutted that my best friend was taken from this world, that his cuddles and his purrs now only exist in fallible human memory. My solace is that it was his death that led me to taking such a deep interest in taking care of those I affectionately refer to as my idiot street children, and because of that I was able to save Star.

Oh Sammy, you'll always be missed, always be loved. Thank you so much for being part of my life, and I'm so sorry you weren't in it longer.

I don't believe in the Rainbow Bridge, but I so hope I meet you there.

(Bruce Wayne voice) I’m Bruce Wayne, from Gotham City, I’m participating in Nailed It! because for years I’ve tried to learn how to bake to impress my father [cuts to old pic of baby Bruce trying to whisk in a bowl, wearing a crooked chef hat, Alfred trying to help him with a really loving look on his face], and- (someone in the background yells LIAR!!) First challenge is recreating justice league cake pops, the camera zooms into Bruce who has the biggest forced smile ever on his face as he holds a cute green lantern pop.
