The Wilds

With ‘The Wilds’ season 2 approaching, I’ve been thinking more and more about how this season was handled. The fact that we were told things like

1.For women by women

2.Female centric

3. The FEMALE experience in adolescence and taking them away from the patriarchy or whatever

4. The girls front and center

It just doesn’t look that way anymore. The showrunners saying trust us just watch (don’t get me started on the showrunners.) I don’t think so, I saw what happened in 2016 with another show and them being like ‘trust us and just watch’ I’m not blindly listening to these people.

The way the social media people are handling things with the guys is so annoying and to me it feels like them pushing them down my gullet to like them. And, how it’s female centric but we brought these dudes that are going to take time away from the girls and developing them more and seeing more about them. In season 1 that was lopsided with some girls not getting too much into their background and even them on the island. So how are you going to handle 16 main characters plus Gretchen with two episodes less than last season? I’m just going to wait and see what happens when S2 comes out, hey maybe I’m wrong?

People have got to also remember they don’t owe you anything but you don’t either! You don’t have to feed them your money and view, you can use the Wîlds instead to not trend.

If you keep accepting crumbs you’re never going to get a whole meal.

yelena is aroace, why is it so hard for you to admit it???

I’ve been staying away from this because it feels like such a pointless thing to argue about. Despite me having my own tagging system that keeps me out of the show, character, and ship tags a seemingly endless amount of you have been ceaselessly hounding me for days, trying to police what I say and do on my blog. I've finally reached my breaking point so…here we go I guess.

Let’s start with the basics since it appears that most of you fail to grasp even that. There’s two distinctly different concepts that fandom conflates and/or tries to use interchangeably because evidently only a handful of us took a literature class in school. Time for a lesson.

CANON: Canon are the elements of a fictional story that are officially a part of it. Canon is IRREFUTABLE information provided directly from the media to the audience. In movies and TV this would mean things like action or dialogue that happen ON SCREEN. In a book or comic it would be things EXPLICITLY said or shown on the page. Canon isn’t fan interpretation/speculation, fix-its, headcanons, what-ifs, something an actor said at a con in front of 200 people or that they “thought maybe that’s a thing their character would do” at an interview in a press junket. Canon is what is IN THE TEXT. End of story.

AUTHORIAL INTENT & DEATH OF THE AUTHOR:

-Authorial Intent: An author can have an “intention” with a piece but that ends the moment the story is out of their hands and the reader/viewer takes ownership of it. Why? Because none of us see the world the same way. Literally. The author simply cannot control how an individual will read their work, cannot dictate how we embrace what they supposedly wrote, and cannot force us to throw out our own takeaway of the text. It is entirely possible that my experience with the text or the characters is vastly different than what they “intended” that to be and there is nothing wrong with that. Once art is out in the world it is going to take a life of its own. That is how subjectivity works.

-Death Of The Author: TV Tropes defines Death Of The Author as follows: “It holds that an author's intentions and background (including their politics and religion) should hold no special weight in determining how to interpret their work. This is usually understood to mean that a writer's views about their own work are no more or less valid than the interpretation of the reader.”

Now that we’ve established both those things let’s break down Yelena’s case in particular.

I don’t even know it this fandom even has a pulse but let me try.

Ok so, when the promo for R&I came on tv all those years ago I was interested. I like crime drama and true crime and this show had two women at the forefront, but I never got around to watch anything or know anything.

Recently I started watching the show because they’re showing reruns on tv. I think I’ve watched S3/4/5? Or most of those ep and some of 7? So my question is anyone else think the series ending is dumb and confusing on Jane’s part?

Also it just seems to me that they give Jane and Maura lemons for men that seem like they don’t put them first but they make Jane and Maura like kind of pathetic with them and when it seems like a good one,Jack, who does put Maura first but he’s not supposed to in this case because he has a daughter and she’s the one who should be put first. So how good can he be anyway? There’s other things I’m like “wtf why?”I’m I missing something since I haven’t watched the whole series or what? Does anyone agree or disagree. What are your thoughts people?

Rebbloging just in case.

Hi! I'm a little lost, because I just started to rewatching the show very recently. Could you please tell me more about the spoilers?🥺🥺

Sure! Spoiler accounts are saying that Lexa is going to show today and the last ep. Supposedly she’s going to fight that dude, basically saving everybody and there might be a ambiguous Clexa ending. I need to go now, but I could talk about it when I come back?

The 1OO/Clexa

Take spoilers with a grain of salt. Don’t get your hopes up. This should of been learned in 2016. Realistically, if anything it’s going to be her face or something we’ve already seen. Clexa already won guys.

So, I just watched Carmilla for the first time ever. And yeah, I mean the three seasons + season zero + the movie in just one day.

And I don't understand why nobody told me about it. I mean, that's one of the gayest thing I've ever watched.

And yeah, I'm going to spend a week just watching every video and reading every fanfic cause that's the kind of person I am.

Also, yes, I'm currently listening to Natasha and Elise reading the original book.

Welcome! Check out when they sing the theme song together, if you haven’t yet!
