Hey remember when Tumblr banned porn and everyone fled to Twitter and the internet by and large became that much more insufferable? Yeah well, we’re about to get the sequel no one’s been waiting for
A recent lawsuit is calling into question the very law that makes user-generated content possible on the internet and it’s going before a bunch of old people who have no idea how the internet works. If Section 230 gets repealed or modified, the internet as we know it will radically change forever. Content policing will be that much worse; and either the guidelines will be so restrictive it’ll squeeze the life out of their sites, or sites will close their doors all together by not being able to meet the moderation demand and not wanting to risk being liable.
Unlike SOPA way back in the day, this one is quietly flying under everyone’s radar so there’s no big pushback like last time, so there is a very real possibility this goes down in the worst way possible. So Yeah Ya’ll may want to start saving your favorite content if you feel it’s going to go bye-bye

Theres not much ‘pushback’ to be made, the justice department and especially the supreme court is not bent by public opinion very much the way that congress is. However what you can do is tell congress to write new laws establishing internet protections

I’m so excited to share our mushroom photos!
This has been a work in progress for a few months from when I started making the hats and getting things ready to do this shoot.
I made the hats out of left over material from my floral throne, fabric from my supply stash and trim from joanns fabric.
It was an absolute dream project to do and I love how these turned out.
I designed the inky cap with Stephanie in mind and Katie stepped in for the redcap because my original model was unavailable. We did there pumpkin head shoot the same day as the mushroom shoot, it was so fun!

Fortunately, there is a very, very easy way to drive brands off tumblr.
Don’t follow them.
Yeah, they’ll likely blaze some posts. The smart ones will blaze shitposts. Don’t reblog them. Don’t reblog, don’t follow, just let them lurk around the edges of tumblr. That’s the whole joy of tumblr, honestly - the lack of algorithm means that they can’t game the system. They can’t force their way in front of your eyeballs.
Brands here are like vampires - they can’t come in unless they’re invited. Don’t let them in.

yes even to dunk on them. i don't care if you have the sickest burn of the century lined up, don't even give them the time of day
the eventual and inevitable fall of twitter marks a change in the advertising industry, and tumblr is unclaimed territory. if we want tumblr to remain the social media bastion it has become, it needs to remain as unappealing to corporations as possible. do not engage. in a marketing strategist's eyes, any kind of attention is good attention. don't "silence, brand" them. don't kungpowpenis them. don't send them hate anons. don't hate-follow them. corporate tumblrs are not a single entity and they will not be harassed off this site. we only have a shot at repelling them because of tumblr's lack of an algorithm. so turn off recommended posts on your dashboard, put it chronological order, and install an adblocker. if you don't seek out these blazed posts and actively ignore them when they happen upon you, the corporations will starve. in this case, the best kind of protest is a silent one
