She was worried about the day someone would call her and tell her he had cracked his head open from not wearing a helmet. Fine… she wouldn’t argue with him about it. She ran her hand through her hair before brushing her fingers against his hand. “Alright, I will always wear one though. I just don’t feel safe on the back of a bike without one.”

“It’s not as big of a deal as you’re makin’ it, San. But if it keeps your hott ass on the back of my bike...” he teased, giving her a goofy smile and taking hold of her hips, bringing her closer to him.

really, asher. what do you think father will have to say when he finds out where it is you’ve been running off to?  he sounds enough like their lord father as it is that it hardly matters.

“Don’t know. He won’t be happy though I imagine.” Asher shrugged, the seriousness of it all not giving him pause. “If I lived my whole life giving a fuck about what our dear lord father thought, Rod, I’d barely leave my chambers.”

Gared couldn’t claim to have been surprised upon hearing the news of Asher’s exile, but that hardly resulted in a positive reaction — whatsoever. There was a lot that he wished to say to him ( he was more than aware of the fact that they’d likely not see one another again ), but in that moment, it was difficult to be anything other than upset. Asher was his friend; he didn’t deserve to be punished.

“ You can’t leave. You just — you just can’t, Asher. This isn’t fair.

“Findin’ that there is a lot of unfair things that happen in this life.”

He clasped his hand on Gared’s shoulder, gave it a good squeeze. He could feel the sadness in the air between them. Still, there was nothing he could do. Asher had no choice but to except his fate. A harder life was ahead of him. He wasn’t prepared for it but he would go into it with his head held high.

He sighed.

“You’ll keep an eye on 'em for me, won’t ye? My family..”

“Look, I know you like working with those bastards but I don’t know anyone that’d turn down all this cash. Bargain with them, Mir. You don’t need to work with them anymore...”

Sure, working with Margaery Tyrell as an assistant had offered her the opportunity to go to King’s Landing, but Asher didn’t want her to have to do that for the rest of her days. He knew she was capable of more. He reached in his back pocket and grabbed a roll of bills, secured with a rubber band, and handed it to her.

“Go home, they miss you there.”

The stubborn blood of their family coursed through her as she broke the small promise to Asher to stop visiting him here. But she wanted to see him anyway, and she would do it. What was he going to do? Call their father and tell on her like he was a child?
“I know it isn’t. Doesn’t mean I should give myself a challenge coming back.”
Image

“Right. It means you should stay home.”

He grabbed his keys, snatching them off of the counter near him. He swiftly passed Talia and headed towards the door.

“Let’s go. I’m takin’ you back.”

If Talia’s heart could not break any more than it had today. Asher had just come home. She had not seen her older brother in years. All she wanted to do was hold him close and protect him. But Asher was far too stubborn to let her do so. Yes, she was in danger here, but this was her home. With her mother gone, she was the Lady of this house. Ironrath was her home and Asher was all she had left. She had seen Beshka ride off with Ryon, but where they went, she was not certain. All she did was hope that they were safe.
“Asher, no! I’m not leaving you. This is our home, we both have to fight for it!”
image

“No, there’s no we. There won’t be anyone to fight for it if you die too, Talia.”

They’d already lost so much. He couldn’t imagine losing her on top of everything else he’d lost. He was in charge now and felt he had a duty to protect his sister. He would feel better sending her off and having her stay with an ally. His priority was guaranteeing her safety.

“Don’t frown on me, mate.. Come on.”

Asher knew telling him about him getting exiled wouldn’t be a cheery conversation. Gared an Asher were close, and there was a change the man would never see him again after this. But there was nothing he could do, nothing he could fix. He was devastated and angry, but he wouldn’t let himself appear that way.

“Ye can come visit.”

Sleep was near IMPOSSIBLE to attain, not while the lives of her brother and sister are on the line and fully dependon her success in battle the next day. She is no STRANGER to battle, when Mance Rayder sent his assault onto Castle Black, when the Others descended upon Hardholme, but this…this is not a type of battle she knows. What will it MEAN to be outnumbered against the Bolton forces, when those who had been sworn to her family’s house have refused their desperate cries for help?
It takes only a MOMENT for her to register Asher’s presence at the entrance of her tent, and she instantly stands from her seat, her heart beginning to POUND mercilessly against her ribcage. She should have expected Ramsay to attempt something like this, she should have known he would not play fair, regardless of how many fighting men he has. “Is anyone hurt? Do you reckon he sent more than one?”
Image

“If he had a brain, he would’ve sent more than one but no.. that was it.” Asher was greatful he’d gotten to him when he did. The soldier had been equipped to do quite a bit of damage and didn’t get to see that through. Earlier that night he had a feeling he wouldn’t have gotten much rest before the fight, and he was right. This debacle was cutting into his beauty rest.

“He attacked the night before. It means he’s worried.. Little bastard.”
