It’s what he did every time he woke up still sprawled between a woman’s legs, his face buried in an unfamiliar bird’s nest of hair that smelled like some fruit or herb he had a better chance of guessing the name of than the chick he’d been balls deep in only hours earlier. Every morning he’d wake up like this he would lift his head and make eye contact with Random Score From the Night Before, and he’d smile and say he’d had an unforgettable night (he couldn’t even remember what positions they’d fucked in), that he couldn’t wait to see her again (maybe he’d introduce her to the dog he didn’t own), and that he’d definitely absolutely, without a doubt call her later (he’d already blocked her number in the Uber over to her place).
Then Finnick would grab his pants from wherever he’d ditched them on his way into her bed, hastily throwing them on one leg at a time, his toes anxiously tunneling their way down the fabric, his fingers moving at lightning speed to zip up his fly, and, as he pulled his shirt back down over his head he’d flash Random Score a winning smile and tell her she was the most beautiful creature he’d ever seen.
But the truth was, nine times out of ten, Random Score wasn’t even the most beautiful creature in a room that had just the two of them in it.
It’s how he got out, by lying.
Look, there was no sense dragging out relationships that weren’t going to go anywhere—not with the past being what it was, and with all the secrets and lies he had to tell piling up like they always did. But there was no sense leaving a girl feeling any worse about that than he had to. He’d bend them over, make them come, and, in the seconds before he ran away from them, he made them smile too. All with lies.

Well the first week of 2017 is in the books and my wonderful colleague on this blog (the amazing @lovelizziekins) helped us all travel down the good parts of 2016 by reblogging all the wonderful WIPs that were written last year. That was all her and when I saw how many stories she had queued up for the week I was amazed. We really do have some fabulous talent in this fandom.

Hi. I know I’ve been AWOL for like 5 months, and my excuse for that is this: I suck. Plain and simple.
Here’s a random, spontaneously written story that will hopefully suffice as an apology. It’s yet another friends-to-lovers story because I have an addiction to mass-producing this trope. I can’t be helped.

Amy, I wanted to send this as an ask, but it turned out to be too embarrassingly long for that. Sorry. You know how I roll… why say something in 60 words when I can say it in 600? lol. So… I know you didn’t ask for this (and I hope that’s not something you groan inwardly to yourself when you read it), but I wanted to share my thoughts with you about your writing and what it is that it means to someone like me. If you’ll allow it. :p
I think I must have written you about a dozen love letters about The Act over the past year-and-a-half, and instead of talking more about the epilogue (which was wonderful), I wanted to take a second to thank you for what you’ve done as a fic writer, because The Act wasn’t just a great piece of fanfiction, but your last multi-chapter one too. And you deserve an homage for what you’ve done for the fandom (and what I know you’ll continue to do, so don’t take this as any sort of fangirl eulogy).
oh gosh thank you Caryn. i’m legit blushing lol i don’t know if i deserve this much credit, i’ve honestly always known i was but a mere peddler of Everlark smut, and i’ve embraced the role wholeheartedly tbh. i’ve thoroughly enjoyed exploring human sexuality and its many complexities, especially through Katniss, while writing my fics, but i’ve also enjoyed the conversation it’s sometimes created. the good and the bad, because regardless it’s always worth talking about. and you know i’m an unapologetic feminist so if my smutty little stories managed to contribute something worthwhile to not only the fandom but to the greater good, then i feel pretty damn good about that. and i hope we can keep that conversation going.
anyway i’m terrible with praise and attention lol i think some of the best Everlark fics have been ones that offer up some kind of critique or rumination on contemporary issues (as Collins herself did with the trilogy), and many of your fics are among that list. it’s been a treasure reading them as well as getting to know the author behind the words. i can’t wait to read more from you! <333

The darkness in my apartment matches my mood. I drop my bag next to the door and walk immediately to the cabinet that stores my liquor. Buns comes running up to me, and I lean down to pat her head. She nudges my thigh as if to say ‘it’s okay.’
Well Buns, it’s not okay.
I reach for a crystal glass and pour myself a healthy serving of the scotch I keep for special occasions. As I walk to my big leather chair at the window, I think twice and double back to grab the bottle. If ever there was a night to get shit-faced, tonight is it.

@papofglencoe: Someone else agreed with us. And lord now I want to go to Hogwarts even more.
I was tagged by the amazing @peetaspikelets to list my 5 resolutions and then tag 5 mutuals. I, too, am not a huge resolution person but there are some things I want to make sure I do in 2017.
1. Get control and understanding of my health, both physical and mental. It’s been a rough end to 2016 in that regard.
2. Read more. I’m not sure how many books I want to read but more than I did this year which wasn’t that many. Hopefully more than 100.
3. Put myself out there more. I don’t want my social anxiety to keep stopping me from doing things I want and should do.
4. Be more creative (or at least do something about it when inspiration strikes). I can’t say I’ll continue to write or do aesthetics but so many times I’ll have the ideas and not follow through so I want to follow through more.
5. Be happy. I want to stop letting others control how I feel.
Pretty sure everyone has been tagged so I won’t tag anyone specific but if you want to go for it. This is more for me than anyone else to be honest.
