Just wanna get something out of my chest here

What if SAGAU's reader suddenly vanished with no traces of them ever existing? Like, other than the playable characters, absolutely no one could remember them. Their statues, their shrines, the things that was made in their stead/to worship them just disappeared within a day, as if they had never existed in the first place.

What if the characters had slowly began to forget about them? The characters could try and reserve their memories, but it doesn't feel right, as if they were incorrect, as if they lacked something really important. Like the actual memories of them.

my version of sagau doesn't feature stuff like statues since in the first place the only characters to know about you are the playable ones. ...and scaramouche, the tsaritsa and the like, but you know what i mean. regular npcs aren't familiar with you and even if you did find yourself in teyvat, the most they'd know is in relation to the playable characters. the servants at the dawn winery, for example, or people the raiden shōgun works with frequently would be familiar with you, but even then they'd only know you're important to the playable character. they wouldn't know about who you are in the same way that the playable characters do.

so if the disappearing is before you get isekaid... they're not going to notice much of a difference. you technically don't exist in the first place, so even if the occasional warmth they feel from you controlling them leaves them, they don't notice much of a difference. you might as well just fade from their mind entirely without them really noticing, even if they'll always feel like something is wrong. that some part of them is missing. their thoughts never linger for too long, no matter how empty and alone they feel.

now, if this is after you come to teyvat... things are going to be different. they're devastated, especially the more unstable or desperate ones. i think the immortal characters would think they displeased you and worry about it, but they can afford to wait. they're hundreds, if not thousands, of years old. they can wait, however long it takes for you to return. they'll keep hoping, even as they take their last breaths.

the regular humans, though... there's no consoling them. albedo locks himself in his room, sketching until his hands bleed. he can never get you quite right, and his memory of you is fading by the second, so he just ends up in a room covered head to toe in sketches of someone he can't remember. diluc commissions portrait after portrait, statue after statue, but he can't remember enough of you to tell if they're accurate or not. everyone in mondstadt mourns the broken shell of a person that the young ragnvindr has become, especially when nobody seems to recall who he's become such a mess over. kaeya realises this is just an ugly wake up call. he really doesn't deserve nice things, does he? so he lets your memory fade with little resistance. he ignores the way he grows steadily emptier and colder. the few times he remembers you, who you used to be, he weeps. jean throws herself into her work, thinking, hoping, praying that you might come back if she makes it up for you. she focuses so much on pleasing you that she forgets about why she's working so hard, and the realisation has her feeling emptier than she thought possible. all she can remember is that she was working for something important, so even though she can't remember what it was, she'll keep working.

prince kaeya who's normally so intimidating and cold, who can usually smoothly maneuver his way out of any tricky situation with grace, who's suave and charming... until he meets you and feels like a bumbling school boy in love. you're so far apart from all the struggles for power that surround his life and so comforting that he can't help but fall in love with you and latch on. prince kaeya who wants nothing more than to hold onto you and never have to let go. sooner rather than later, he finds that all of his motivations have shifted. no longer does he vie for himself, but for you. he wants you to be safe, he wants to provide for you and make you happy, and what better way to do that than as king of khaenri'ah?

and, of course, he'll make sure you're happy. should anyone bother you, they're never heard from again. every time he finishes doing something for you (oftentimes something you didn't ask for... or are even aware of), he gets the need to pamper you, and pamper you he will. of course, he realises his intensity might be a little much for you... so he'll try to keep up a casual act for as long as possible. try as he might, though, nothing could ever hide how smitten he is around you.

zhongli as one of those professors who feels a lot older than he actually is. perpetual grandpa energies. you're pretty sure he keeps being way too lenient with your grading and you're not sure whether to complain because good grades are nice but you're not learning from your mistakes properly that way.... also he notices whether you like being called on or not and either always calls on you or never calls on you. regardless everyone's (playfully) jealous. also definitely the type to just come up to you and be like "I'm getting a kid" and you're like "ok? congrats? why are you telling me this" and he slams down adoption papers and is like "it's you. sign here" and you're like sir you're not even old enough to be my father. dotes on you like a grandpa would. i meant what i said about perpetual grandpa energies

venti..... takes every opportunity to cling to you. constantly asking you out but like in a "hey there's a new karaoke bar wanna hang out" platonic way (unless you initiate anything romantic yourself). he looks younger than he is but sometimes he says things and you realise.... he also has granpa energies. he will bring alcohol onto the school premises and only cut it out if you complain, don't test him. he'll also do stupid stuff if you seem to find it funny because he likes hearing you laugh. slips cheesy poetry into your bags and pencil cases and books. you never catch him do it but you know it's him because of the weirdly messily neat handwriting
