It starts when Jamie Taylor, known to everyone who knows her now as simply ‘The Storyteller’, finds Tamerlane Usher cradled in Jessie Burlingame’s arms, sobbing weakly. “Another nightmare?” “Same as always.” Tamerlane admits with a weak snuffle. “Oh Sweetheart.” Jamie speaks softly, moving to settle beside Jessie on the bed. “Baby… do you think maybe some distractions would help?” Tamerlane had been struggling to sleep for a while, this was the third month of nightmares and now, finally, Jamie had a plan. That night, finally, she talks, tells the story of Dani, of Bly, letting both Tamerlane and Jessie know the full truth past simply the fact she had lost Dani at a fairly young age. From that night, Tamerlane settles in Jessie’s arms and Jamie settles with her, with them, telling her a story.

Napoleon yawned as he practically dragged himself to the kitchen before the sun was even up.

He wasn’t used to being out of bed this early. Or early at all. And just making sure he would wake up in time was tricky. Especially in this stormy weather that was so inviting to just sleep through.

But he was determined to make sure his partners had the break they deserved. Sebastian and Amy worked too much. Their job was taking care of the house and its residents, but even then, he thought they worked way too hard, rarely taking breaks or days off. It had improved a little after the three of them started dating, but sometimes Napoleon still worried and did his best to aid them.

A/N: Filling @polyamships monthly prompt.

Fighting a feeling of attraction never worked. Maureen had accepted that the weeks after she met and fell in love with Dr Zoe Smith, her laugh soft when she finally works out what is making John so antsy.    “You know, I won’t be mad if you want to spend time with Don too...”    “I’m not... I... I’m not gay?”    “Bi maybe?”    Don’s voice breaks into their conversation and John straightens to his full height in moments, Dr. Smith moving to settle at Maureen’s side as she watches what comes next. She and John have come to understand each other, neither wants to be with the other person but they both adore Maureen enough to work on their friendship, making a polycule that works for them all. Now Don is making an attempt to get John to accept how he feels, with the blessing of both Dr. Smith and Maureen, the two women knowing John needed a friend and lover outside of them both desperately.     “I...”    John’s sigh is soft even as he moves closer to Don, looking him over and finally, finally, accepting his attraction.    “You are an unfairly handsome bastard, ya know that?”    “Look who’s talking.”    Don’s smirk is quick and John rolls his eyes then curses softly under his breath, moving to kiss Don, barely aware of Maureen’s happy laughter and Smith’s whistling. He’s home. Finally home. He won’t be alone now, ever.

Poppy calls for Leigh quickly, moving to cradle a sobbing Olivia Crain even as she waits, her voice low and soft. She knows, too well, that Leigh Crain is the key to calming Liv when she’s broken down. Leigh gets to them quickly as she moves to settle with them, gently kissing Poppy, then moving to accept Olivia into her arms, feeling the woman shudder even as she cradles her closer, beckoning for Poppy to move closer. It takes a while, of course, for Olivia to settle but once she’s resting Leigh leans to kiss Poppy sweetly. “Good job, Poppy.” “Thanks Leigh.”

An easy escape had been the least of Shasta’s worries. Now she was haunted, struggling with nightmares that woke her time and time again. It is Ilonka who finds her, eventually, hiding her pain in the same woods where they first met. Now, of course, she brings Shasta home, tucking the exhausted woman into bed before moving to kiss her forehead, moving to find Aceso at the dinner table. “She’s been struggling for months. I thought Stanton might… but now, well… now I can tell she needs you. Her northern star.” “You’d have to stay too.” Aceso’s sigh is soft. “She won’t do well without you, Bright Girl.” “I’ve never once thought otherwise.” Ilonka spoke firmly. “She’s ours though, always was… and she needs us.”

Someone could be on the job market or putting themself out there again being 'on the market' for dating. Maybe even polycule board game night featuring markets in the games!
