I created this two layer screen print for Resting Safe, a project of Right to Survive. "Resting Safe brings together houseless community leaders and activist-researchers to investigate and intervene in environmental hazards in the places where houseless people are building homes and communities." This piece will be used as part of the Resting Safe Toolkit. They are currently developing protocols and short video tutorials for collecting and testing spider webs, in order to learn more about air pollution; all the while showing the connectedness of social and environmental justice. #communitysolutions #restingsafe #right2survive #basilicaorbweaver #spiderwebs #pollution #ddignityandsafety #screenprint #radicalprintmaking #socialjustice #environmentaljustice #ecology (at Portland, Oregon) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwsqbdshJC3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1hg9qz2kh6hl

New post from http://www.entangledroots.com/product/hex-the-patriarchy-patch/

Hex the Patriarchy patch

Hex the Patriarchy back patch

From our relief print that can be seen HERE.

This print celebrates the strong women using their skills, knowledge and art to fight patriarchy.

I urge you to support the art of the two amazing witches represented in the print. I’m grateful for both of them allowing me to use their portraits: Kris and Kamee.

The plants featured are considered “witches weeds” for their medicinal, useful and/or poisonous properties. From top left going counter clockwise are: belladonna (Atropa belladonna), mandrake (Mandragora officinarum), devils snare (Datura stramonium), henbane (Hyoscyamus niger), catnip (Nepeta cataria) and hemlock (Conium maculatum).

All patches are screen printed on reclaimed fabric. The image featured may not reflect current fabric availability.  If you have a preference of fabric color, pattern or thickness, please feel free to add that in a note in your order and I will do my best to accommodate.

Updates!

Hi lovely supporters and friends. I apologize for my lack of posts here. I knew it was bad when someone emailed to ask if the site was still being used since the last blog post was from last year. It’s been a pretty grand past year, with many new changes a foot, and many seeds being planted. Last summer I began working at Pacific Northwest College of Art, where I graduated from, as the Assistant Print Technician. Basically I get to work on the presses, maintain the studio, and help students with their projects. Pretty sweet job for a print obsessed person such as myself. I participated in TWO queer, radical sci-fi films over the past year. My partner and I also bought a house!!! And we’re engaged!!! So many adult moves happening. We moved into our new place this past November and have been spending almost every free day painting, setting up bookshelves, and now that the weather is getting better, we’ll be working in the garden. We’ve already got a few fruit trees planted.  But enough about that, what about Entangled Roots Press? Although I’ve been super busy, I’m getting back into restocking patches and creating new works. Lots of pieces have been added to the store despite no formal updates here. I’m turning our garage into a print studio and will have much more time for printing as I won’t have to commute to go make work. I’ll post photos once the studio is all set up. Anyway, I just wanted to say thank you all for your patience, unwavering support and continued interest. Stay tuned for upcoming shows, recaps on pieces created over the past year,  new projects, and all the other seeds that are being planted.

New post from http://www.entangledroots.com/product/familiar-patch/

Familiar Patch

“Familiar”

12″ x 12″

Patch created from 4 color screen print on paper which you can see HERE.

This print celebrates the bond of witches and cats. Cats were often referred to as a witches familiar: 1. a spirit often embodied in an animal and held to attend and serve or guard a person: the loathsome toad, the witches’ familiar. 2. one who is often seen and well known; especially :an intimate associate :companion. In Europe christian priests spread the idea of cats being associated with witches because of their promiscuous behavior and “demonic” like sounds during mating. People were encouraged to rid Europe of cats, much like the persecution of witches: the strong women who were midwives, those who held the knowledge of herbs and folk medicine, the ones who did not fit in, who did not follow the rules. Many of you  could guess the outcome of this culling of the cat population. Less cats = more rats = the plague. The his-story is horrific and the prejudice against black cats continues, but luckily it is diminishing. So here’s to all the black cats out there, or to whomever your familiar is.

All patches are screen printed on reclaimed fabric. The image featured may not reflect current fabric availability.  If you have a preference of fabric color, pattern or thickness, please feel free to add that in a note in your order and I will do my best to accommodate.
