Princess Islay Halyard

One of Ariel and Eric’s many daughters (she has six sisters, two younger and four older), Islay is possibly the most unusual of the bunch, as she has a distaste for the sea and her families natural gifts. She prefers staying landlocked, studying the ocean from the safety of her maps and star charts.

Despite avoiding the sea at all costs, she’s still very much her mother’s daughter with pale turquoise scales and fins that poke through her skin even while human. It’s not her choice, but Islay has to swim every few weeks in order to stay healthy and stretch her tail. She always remains close to shore during these outings, perched on rocks or flat out sitting at the surf’s edge in as shallow water as she can manage, waiting until she can turn back.

Islay also isn’t much of a singer. Not that she can’t, necessarily, as all mermaids have the gift of heavenly song. She just doesn’t like to, freezing up in front of crowds and getting annoyed when people compare her to her mother or sisters, who tend to sing more than they speak.

Personality wise, Islay is nothing like either of her parents. She isn’t unfriendly necessarily, but her sense of humor is dry (it’s hard to get her to laugh, or smile without smirking) and she’s very intimidating to those who don’t know her. She takes much more after her grandfather, being very regal with a strong sense of justice and a quick temper, lacking the bubbly, adventurous spirit Ariel is known for. Islay isn’t mean though; she’s fair and generous, quick witted and loyal as any friend could be, but she’s not a soft personality and is a bit of an acquired taste.

Tired: Red as the daughter of the Queen of Hearts.

Inspired: Red as the daughter of Redd/Scarlett from Pirates of the Caribbean (ride/parks or movie, take your pick)

I love how that Dead Boy Detectives show or whatever is supposed to be set in Port Townsend, Washington, but isn’t actually filmed in the town it stole the name of.

Just make up a fictional place if you’re not actually doing a small port a favor by filming there. I love the real Port Townsend with my heart and soul—it’s historic, and spends a lot of its funds restoring its classic building facades and supporting small businesses like artisans, sailing, and woodcraft. It’s tiny and struggles outside of the warmer months to maintain tourism, especially since it’s constantly battered by high wind and poor, salty weather. I spent a lot of my childhood there, taking in the natural beauty of the area as well as the beautiful buildings on the peninsula.

It’s is the definition of ‘small port community’

Stealing the name of a classic Washington town for your use, only to not film there? Bullshit. Scummy move. At least Twilight was filmed on some Washington beaches rather than in fucking Canada.

I get that they need more space to film or whatever, but there’s no reason a majority of it couldn’t be in actual Port Townsend, so that locals and business can get some money from filming and an increased boost to their small community.

I will not be watching/supporting this show. Fuck them.

Thinking about my fic again.

I really needed to draw Briar again because I have a hard time visualizing her in the context of the story. I know what show-Briar looks like (sassy, people-oriented, generally pretty friendly), but Briar in my fic is incredibly unapproachable and prickly (kinda scary at times), and I wanted to get that across. She always looks angry due to how dark the rings around her eyes are, and she has a lot of scarring which she doesn’t bother to hide.

About her:

Briar is not someone you want to be screwing around with. Mess with her, fine, she doesn’t care. But mess with her friends? Be ready to get your happily ever after ass beat.

Because of where she grew up, Briar is very overprotective of things that she cares about. This mostly pertains to people, as she pseudo-adopts them (aware of it or not) and becomes their main protector. Seeing as she basically raised eight little brothers from the time she was seven to when she was sixteen, it’s just natural instinct by now to keep people close. Despite having a decently large group of friends, Briar isn’t venerable very often. When she is, she goes to Ashlynn and only Ashlynn, who takes this honor very seriously.

Messing with Briar is either a very brave or a very supid life choice, as she’s not just willing to beat you up (she doesn’t really discriminate if she or someone else is being threatened), but she also holds grudges like you wouldn’t believe. She’ll remember you, always.

Rise of Red (thoughts)

Auradon and Wonderland were once at peace. The United States of Auradon was still a young concept then, King Adam pulling his new empire together one thread at a time while filling the Isle with heathens. Wonderland was set to be apart of it…that was, of course, until young Chloe Charming went missing. Left at the scene was a single playing card (the Joker card), a message from her kidnapper. A clue. The smoking gun.

The two kingdoms descended into chaos, threatening war. Auradon ordered the return of the youngest Charming daughter, while Wonderland continued to claim its innocence. Only when the two worlds were on the brink of collapse did Fairy Godmother close the portal between them, seemingly forever, trapping Wonderlandians already in Auradon away from their homeland, and Auradonian’s in Wonderland.

Years later, the daughter of the Red Queen emerges as heiress of Wonderland’s throne. However, a mysterious figure has also reappeared, the same assassin who stole the Charming girl all those years ago. Chased off, her life now threatened by this mystery threat, Red runs face first into a ferocious beast. Winged and fanged, chained in silver and gemstones like a trophy, Chloe Charming has been living her days as a prisoner, cursed with stolen enchantress magic to be a beast.

Now stuck in the same dangerous situation, Red and Chloe escape together, traveling across Wonderland to find a portal back to Auradon, to reach Fairy Godmother who can not only break the curse, but possibly shed some light on this mysterious chaos bringer, now nipping at their heels.
