I saw this one post, that claimed, it is somehow a taboo for Zuko & Katara to be in a relationship, beyond friendship. Because apparently according to them, Katara shouldn't be in a romantic relationship with someone, whose his past 'crimes', might still traumatizing her. Probably they think, it would be a toxic relationship if Zuko & Katara ended up together, as lovers~ & for some reasons, it's okay if they just remained friends~ Best friends at its finest~

Well, I beg to differ~ I think, it is already well-accepted in the fandom (or at least in Zutara fanon) that, when Katara decided to forgive Zuko, giving him another chance to earn back her trust, that is also means that, she is ready to let go all her long held grudges towards him, letting what has happened in the past to remain in the past, & move on. It doesn't necessarily mean that she has to forget everything he has done though. But, when she decided to forgive him, she also choose to see the best in him~

Also, along the way through their friendship, I believe, she will slowly learn & understand, the reason behind Zuko's past behaviours (Ozai to be held accountable obviously). Though nothing can justify what has happened between them in the past, at least she knows, it's not fair to blame him forever, not when he's trying so hard to redeem himself & ever since he asked for forgiveness, he has done nothing but to correct his mistakes in the past, to prove he's worthy of her trust again~

Yes, I'm totally aware of the fact that, firebenders are somehow capable to control their body temperature, depends on their surroundings. But, I just love the idea of, Zuko experiencing 'climate shock' during one of his early visits to Southern Water Tribe & eventually caught a cold~ & he got no one to care for him but Katara🤭

Chief Hakoda actually got no problem with Zuko. Well, not until he learned that, the fire lord is dating his one & only daughter that, his fatherly overprotective instinct suddenly kicked in😆 But, I can assure you that he don't hate Zuko~

Phew~ this one took forever to finish🥹

A little headcanon here~ Even after years have passed, Katara is still traumatized by the lightning incident. She hates to see Zuko (now, her dearest🤭) got hurt. She immediately went into panic mode when that happened. It reminds her of that terrifying day, that almost cost Zuko his life🥲

Of course, after she had made sure that he was completely fine, she would always give him a piece of mind. Zuko, though he loves receiving all those attentions & concerns from Katara (he enjoys it so much in fact), it can be a bit annoying at times😄 But, he doesn't blame her, for being passionately worrying about him😆

Day 24- Blush

Heav'n has no Rage, like Love to Hatred turn’d, Nor Hell a Fury, like a Woman scorn’d

It can be argued to the end of time and back whether or not Katara and Zuko ever actually showed romantic interest in each other during the show. Naysayers would say that Zutara shippers are desperate and grasping at straws, but yet  we can see many times in show that there were indeed writers, and not just fans, who were invested in this pairing. 

Katara is not a person who forgives easily after she feels slighted and especially when she feels slighted by someone she has feelings for. This is evident in her reactions to seeing both Jet and Zuko after she trusted and opened her heart to them. Yes part of her anger at Zuko was due to how Aang got hurt by Zuko’s betrayal, but a larger part (as we later see in Southern Raiders) was down to Zuko’s betrayal after they both shared a bonding moment. The bonding moment in the crystal catacombs was something that Katara didn’t forget right away. In fact it was something that she thought about long after the encounter happened…

This is just like when we were in prison together at Ba Sing Se. He starts talking about his mother and making it seem like he’s an actual human being with feelings.

Oh, everyone trusts you now! I was the first person to trust you! [Places her left hand on her heart.] Remember, back in Ba Sing Se. [Points to the ocean.] And you turned around and betrayed me, betrayed all of us!

Both the attacks on Jet and Zuko were personal and I have no doubts whatsoever that had Katara not developed feelings for Zuko she wouldn’t have been as angry. After all the opposite of love is not hate it’s apathy, and we can see by Katara’s reaction that she very much still cared.
