Entirely beautiful because it is impossible. “When asked which would know the skies better: stargazer or comet, the answer is always light,” she remembered the answer a fellow classmate had given when she’d brashly and confidently said: The skies know themselves best, everything else is just here to linger a while, both stargazer and comet. “Without light, we wouldn’t be able to see the stars, so the stargazer does not look up, and the comet is never seen, never there, so the question does not get asked. Ever.” “Are you asking me if I have hope for this fight or if I can give it to you?” “No,” she took a long, lingering look at him; drank him up as if she were the sun and he was a young stream, reaching too far away from the rest of the oceans and seas, dithering in the outskirts of its perimeter. “No, I’m saying there was light, and for the first time, I had to look up, and I’m glad I did, or else I would have missed the passing comet.” I would have missed my time with you.

Writing advice from my uni teachers:

If your dialog feels flat, rewrite the scene pretending the characters cannot at any cost say exactly what they mean. No one says “I’m mad” but they can say it in 100 other ways.
Wrote a chapter but you dislike it? Rewrite it again from memory. That way you’re only remembering the main parts and can fill in extra details. My teacher who was a playwright literally writes every single script twice because of this.
Don’t overuse metaphors, or they lose their potency. Limit yourself.
Before you write your novel, write a page of anything from your characters POV so you can get their voice right. Do this for every main character introduced.

This is legit good writing advice, especially the first bullet point! In playwriting class we did a bit where every bit of dialogue had to be an accusatory question and it was glorious.
