I write and draw Tyzula stuff. I love this ship because i find their dynamic interesting and endlessly complex.

My fics include-

As A Whole series

An Azula Alone style redemption that takes place after the end of the series. Azula escapes the Asylum and travels across the Fire Nation. As a fugitive from the Fire Lord, Azula interacts with Fire Nation peasants incognito and begins to unravel her treatment by her father, and her fraught relationships with Mai and Ty Lee. Retrospective Tyzula slowburn. 24,365  words. Complete.

Part 2: Azula Apart

A continuation of Azula’s redemption arc. Taking place in the Earth Kingdom and beyond, Azula begins to grapple with her place, and the place of the Fire Nation in this new post-war world order. A post-war political intrigue where Azula buts heads with Fire Lord Zuko, and the forces that work with and against him, while also trying to repair her relationships with the people from her old life. Tyzula slowburn. 47, 497 words. Updated as of the 10th May 2021. Ongoing.

Demon!Azula post-war AU. Tragic revenge fic where Azula is turned into a demon and terrorises those who have wronged her. Bit of a darkfic. 2180 words. Updated as of 25th of March 2021. Chapter 1/10.

One shots

A modern AU featuring Ty Lee, who has returned to Ba Sing Se after backpacking around the Earth Kingdom and comes face-to-face with the girl she ran away from. Light and easy Tyzula romcom. 10,636 words

A post war one shot featuring Ty Lee, the Kyoshi warrior of questionable loyalty who guards her former Princess, and the fallout of her impulsive actions over the course of her relationship with Azula. Bittersweet Tyzula with a darker tone. 2567 words.

Sugar sweet Tyzula one shot set during the episode The Beach. My take on the infamous scene where Ty Lee teaches Azula how to flirt, but this time Ty Lee isn’t as confident as she appears. May involve a very cute first kiss. 2473 words.

Check out #my art and #fic rec for my art and fanfic recommendations respectively.

Ty Lee is Mean!

Ty Lee can be very sweet, nice, empathetic, and compassionate, but there’s a whole other side of her that seems to be almost always ignored: she has a massive mean streak.  Over the course of the series, Ty Lee:

1. Laughs at Azula’s cruel prank of Mai and Zuko and finds it hilarious.

2. Cheerfully and smugly  beats the crap out of her opponents, with a smile on her face.

3. Derides the Kyoshi Warriors as “not prettier than we are!” as she beats the crap out of the,.

4.  Mocks Mai’s choice of makeup to her face.

5. Attacks Mai for her “dingy, pasty, gray” aura.

6. Enjoys helping destroy Chan’s beach house.

7. Generally has zero negative reaction when Azula being an asshole to someone else in front of Ty Lee.

There’s a reason that Azula and Ty Lee get along well, despite their apparent differences: Ty Lee is a mean girl!

the way azula was laughing at iroh’s jokes and then right after she saw that ugly doll he sent her, she immediately started talking about iroh dying.

hi hi hi new sokka and katara art from the avatar legends rpg book very pretty i stared dreamily at them for an hour.

but also I’m going to overanalyze the hell out of them.

The plants they’re surrounded with are common motifs in Chinese art. Sokka has the pine, like this painting by Gao Fenghan:

The pine symbolizes resilience and wisdom. It’s a tree that stands the test of time. I think these are all pretty fitting for Sokka. Plus, it’s associated with scholars and intellectuals, which Sokka has been particularly linked to especially through his training with Piandao.

Katara has bamboo leaves, like this painting by Shitao:

The bamboo isn’t as sturdy as the pine, but it’s still resilient. What’s more, it has a hollow center, turning it into a symbol of tolerance and open-mindedness. It’s flexible, it bends but doesn’t break. That feels very accurate to Katara as well.

Together, the pine and the bamboo are two of the Three Friends of Winter, plants that the Chinese admire for their persistence and survival through winter. They represent steadfastness and resilience, and with everything these two siblings have gone through, it’s perfect for them. Of course, winter is also the season associated with the Water Tribe.

Three Friends of Winter, by Zhao Mengjian

EDIT: found the third friend, the plum blossom, in Katara’s uncropped picture. Elegance and inner beauty :)
