I am starting the newest @reblogbookclub selection right–with a notation system. The book has four (that I know of) main characters, so I chose this graphic organizer to help keep things straight until I settle in.

I absolutely loves books written from multiple perspectives. So excited!

Very professional! Anyone else have a reading system?

Welcome to the Reblog Book Club, Tumblr’s official book club!

Right now, we’re reading our ninth book, Salt to the Sea by Ruta Sepetys. You can get a copy at your local bookstore or library, or order one from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Indiebound, or iBooks.

You can contribute to the discussion in one of two ways: - Post to your own Tumblr blog and tag the post #reblogbookclub — we’ll reblog it into the main conversation. - Submit to the book club Tumblr at reblogbookclub.tumblr.com/submit

We’ll begin with non-spoilery posts on February 2nd, which is publication day, and discuss plot developments on the following schedule: - Feb 8th - Feb 14th:  Pages 1 - 123 - Feb 15th - Feb 21st: Pages 124-265 - Feb 22nd - Feb 28th: Pages 265 - 378

Many of you are already big fans of Ruta Sepetys, and we’re so excited to launch her on Tumblr. This book is sad. It’s intense, it’s tough, it’s a little triggery. But it’s also gorgeously written, intensively researched, propulsively readable, and full of vivid, interesting, so-human characters you’re going to love getting to know. It’s getting rave reviews, it’s full of interesting things to talk about, and we’re going to have a great time.

Because this is a book club the Tumblr way, you can express your feelings about the book however you choose — a written review, fan art, gifs, poems, letters… Maybe you have nail art? Maybe you want to post a video blog talking through your ideas, a g-chat with a friend, or a song you think the characters would relate to? It’s all up to you! And, of course, you can reblog other people’s posts to add your own thoughts and responses. Ruta will be answering your Ask Box questions throughout the project.

Thanks for being part of this. We can’t wait to see what you think!

Our next Reblog Book Club pick is a bit of a departure for us: Historical fiction! Many of you have told me you’re big fans of Ruta Sepetys, and I’m so pleased to invite you to be part of her launch on Tumblr. I'ma be real, you guys, this book is sad. It’s intense, it’s tough, it’s a little triggery. But it’s also gorgeously written, intensively researched, propulsively readable, and full of vivid, interesting, so-human characters you’re going to love getting to know. It’s getting rave reviews, it’s full of interesting things to talk about, and we’re going to have a great time, I promise.

Here’s a little more about the story: “It’s 1945 in East Prussia. World War II is drawing to a close as Russian forces overtake the Germans, and thousands of refugees are on a frantic trek toward freedom, almost all of them with something to hide. Among the throngs of people seeking safety are Joana, Emilia, and Florian: each one borne of a different homeland, yet equally desperate to escape a life marked by brutality and war. As their paths converge en route to the Wilhelm Gustloff–the former cruise ship that promises each character’s salvation and future just beyond the Baltic Sea–the three are forced by circumstance to unite, and with each step closer toward safety, their strength, courage, and trust in each other are tested.” If you’re on board to read and discuss Salt to the Sea, email bookclub@tumblr.com right away. We start on February 2nd!

11 Tweets That Sum Up Our Excitement For SALT TO THE SEA

There’s a new book coming from Between Shades of Gray author Ruta Sepetys, and let’s just say some readers are getting a little excited. We rounded up 11 tweets that pretty much sum up the feels we have about SALT TO THE SEA:

Well, we usually plan on reading way more than 1 book this winter but YES. IT’S THAT GOOD.

Ah, if only all stories could be never-ending…

Agreed. If you didn’t know that books could be life-affirming, this one will show you the way.

You will want to binge read this, but please don’t forget to eat/sleep/breathe while doing so.

Have you ever loved a book so much you took it on a romantic weekend getaway at the beach?

Our first act as president: make everyone read this book.

It’s so good, it ALTERED AN ENTIRE TBR LIST.

Common side effects: getting sucked in, losing track of time, weeping uncontrollably.

We tried to get a pack of tissues included in every copy but they wouldn’t let us.

This is definitely one of those cases where it’s ok to judge a book by its cover. Because SALT TO THE SEA is beautiful inside and out.

Our thoughts exactly. You. Won’t. Stop. Thinking. About. It.
