But emotions, they hurt too. They hurt a lot more, and run a lot deeper that anything physical. Their scars are invisible — we can’t cover them, though we want to. Humans try to hide themselves instead of their emotional wounds, but that only leads to more and more. We have to live with them, wishing and hoping to forget. You can never fully forget, though. Even repression sometimes backfires.
