I read the name ‘Crystmas’ in this Tumblr post by @ivorydice and it was too hilarious to pass up. So full credit for the name goes to them.

In fiction we give a lot of real estate to the unwilling-scumbag trope - where a character is pressured into a situation that makes them, to any onlooker, seem like a real scumbag. And it’s not their fault, really, for with the situation, what else can they do? We freaking love this trope, because we get to watch heroes struggle through being thought of as ‘bad’, on the way to some greater goal.
But, we do not give enough space to the opposite of this trope. The unwilling saint, a character who is pressured by the forces around them to commit an act that, to everyone outside of it, seems like a kindness. Could be a mercy kill, could be pardoning an enemy, could be giving an enemy a gift. I find this much more intense than the first trope, because it doesn’t matter how little the hero wants to do it, they will always be remembered in history as the hero that was nice, the hero that was a ‘true good person’. And it’s merely the situation, not their true feelings. In a way, it’s like the hero has not really won, because they’re not in control. If the enemy is someone they hated, or if they are not ready or not willing for forgiveness, this fact must kill them inside.

Come Together is seeking submissions! We’re looking for European comic artists and teams to submit proposals for short 8-16 page smutty stories along our theme “Reunion”.
What do we want?
- Diverse erotic stories exploring the theme of “Reunion”. Reunited lovers, old friends, long-time enemies, high school reunions…weird symbiote fucky monsters joining their old hosts…
- Comics only, no prose
- Stories that explore sex/relationships in ways you rarely see in mainstream porn.
- Submissions especially from women, POC, LGBT+, disabled, and other marginalised creators from all over Europe.
- Basically work that shows people from different walks of life… coming together.
What do I need to be to qualify?
- Over 18 (duh)
- Can accept a bank transfer or paypal payment.
- Be able to finish an 8-16 page smutty comic ready for our anthology Kickstarter launching Spring/Summer 2019.
- You or one of your team must come from, live in or previously lived in a European country.
What’s the deal?
- £40 per page rate with potential bonuses with Kickstarter stretch goals. (If you’re a team it’s up to you to split your money yourselves)
- 5 free comp copies of the book, plus you can buy more at 50% retail to sell yourself.
- We want exclusive publishing rights for 1 year, then you can do what you want with your story.
- Payment after successful funding of the book Kickstarter. If funding is unsuccessful we’ll use digital sales to make sure everyone gets paid instead.
About the book
- UK Standard size (198 mm x 129 mm or 7.8x5 inches)
- Spot colour using similar blue tones through all the stories to make it more cohesive for the readers
- Stories predominantly in English or understandable for an English reader. While it seems silly to have a European book only in English, that’s the language we’re most experienced marketing to.
- Length TBC. We want a range of 10-20 artists but it depends on the length of stories submitted.
