Not too long after moving, Ash muses on life in Izumo. Despite the still-healing bullet wound in his side, nothing seems to get Eiji’s spirits down.
Maybe next year, they won’t spend Valentine’s Day just sitting around with half-healed holes in their sides.

Izumo isn’t what Ash expected it would be.

Well, that’s not entirely true—he didn’t expect anything specific, because he doesn’t know what, exactly, he should’ve expected. It’s probably just that his mental reference pictures of Japan were woefully lacking the entire time; all he could picture was either something from a Google search or just Little Tokyo, from NYC. Neither is particularly accurate.

For one, Izumo is a quieter city than he realized it’d be. Maybe that’s just because he’s used to the hustle and bustle of New York, where there’s always something going on no matter what, and there’s far too much noise and light for it to ever be calm, but still.

It’s not a bad difference, he thinks. It’s just… different.

When he's out of the house, Max is sitting on the porch steps. He's staring off into the distance, the sun at just the right angle to illuminate his hair. He's breathtaking. Griffin sits next to him, admiring the sunset with him.
"Hey." he says to get his attention.
Max looks over and smiles. "Hey. What's on your mind?"
"Nothing," Griffin answers, and after a moment, "what's on yours?"
"Everything." Max sighs.

Cape Cod, but Griffin lives

Here’s my fic for @bfsecretvalentine and @icheonil on Twitter✨

I loved her ideas and tropes and had fun writing it. It’s a high school romance where Eiji and Ash have a little dispute about Valentine’s Day when logic and romance collides. With a happy ending.

The meaning of the title will be revealed at the end.
