❝ an’ here i thought i was th'one outta both of us that wouldn’t be sleepin’ well most nights. ❞ movements, limbs still ever-so-slightly heavy from slumber’s lingering touch, nevertheless cause jack’s arms to rest about katherine’s shoulders, balancing chin against chestnut curls for a moment before he allows his head to settle on her shoulder, peeking forth at the document that glows upon screen, brightly illustrated in dozens of colors of edits. although jack is often a deep enough sleeper to hardly be an easy riser, this particular absence had been enough to rouse from sleep, to stir forth against mattress suddenly found to be a little too cold for comfort. curiosity —- and a sneaking, if well-meant, suspicion —- has led him here, draped behind katherine, neck craned in sleepily piqued interest.

between the two of them, he’s definitely the heavier sleeper - or rather, her sleep schedule is at odder hours, consisting of late nights and early mornings, depending on when inspiration strikes. she turns her head ever so slightly, resting her head against his. a quick glance at the tiny clock on the top of her screen reminds her that it’s an hour where neither of them should be awake without good reason ( especially him ). she lives off of coffee && tea like it’s nobody’s business, having trained her body to function normally with a few cups of coffee and tea, and minimal sleep. she’s lucky though, to be with someone who understands how fleeting inspiration is.
