Marry Me

MALEC WEEK: day 3/7 "a moment from the future" read it on ao3 here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11691789 “Magnus, I’m home.” Alec called out with a grin on his face, walking through the door to their home. “I’m in here, Alexander.” He chuckled, brushing flour off his nose as he ruffled Rafael and Max’s hair. Alec walked into the kitchen, laughing at the sight of his beautiful boyfriend and their sons. Rafael was six, Max was four, and he and Magnus loved them more than anything. “What're you all making?” Alec asked with a smile before Rafael came running with a plate of pancakes. “We made pancakes, daddy!” He giggled, Max right behind him with the syrup. Alec chuckled at that. “I see that. They look delicious.” He grinned, letting the kids go to the table before turning to Magnus. “You're home early.” Magnus said with a happy smile, reaching forward to take Alec’s hands in his own. He squeezed them gently as he leaned down to kiss him softly, only pulling back as the boys pretended to gag in disgust. Alec smiled and nodded as he pulled away, kissing Magnus’ flour covered nose. “They made me a portal back sooner than they did for my father. There was something I needed to do.” He said, biting his lip slightly as he pulled his hands away. Magnus raised an eyebrow, looking at him curiously. “Is everything alright?” He asked before Alec got down on one knee. Magnus shivered as he watched Alec, biting his lip. “Magnus Bane.” Alec said, pulling a box out of his pocket. “The Clave has finally come to their senses and changed the law. Downworlders and Shadowhunters can now get married in gold.” Alec explained with a smile. Alec and Robert had been working to get the law changed for the past year and a half, and finally the Clave was persuaded. “You're the love of my life, Magnus. Will you marry me?” He asked, opening the box to reveal a ring and a small and glittery plastic rose. “A million times yes.” Magnus grinned, pulling Alec to his feet to kiss him deeply. Alec kissed back, slipping the ring onto Magnus’ finger as they kissed. “I love you.” Alec whispered as he pulled away, resting their foreheads together. “I love you too.” Magnus whispered back, pulling Alec closer.

Together.

MALEC WEEK: day 2/7 "a moment from the present" read on ao3 here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/11683308 a moment from the present Two halves of one heart, two halves in two different places. “The only thing holding me back is you.” Magnus had said, and Alec couldn't deny that it broke him. Lying in his bed in the Institute, he couldn't help but notice how cold it was. Without Magnus’ body pulled flush against his own, without Magnus’ lips pressing kisses to his face between giggles. Whispers of sweet nothings in his ears, but they weren't nothing! They were declarations of his love in so many different ways. Alec missed it. Alec missed him. It was the first time he had slept alone in a while, it was the the first night back in the Institute. He tossed and turned for a while before getting up and shuffling to his bathroom, splashing water in his face. “Izzy.” Alec said in surprise as he ran into his sister on his way back to his bedroom. “Alec, you're hurting. I know you are.” She said softly, putting her hands on his shoulders. “But you need to talk to him.” All Alec could do was nod, looking down and closing his eyes for a moment before pulling away. He headed back to his room and pulled fresh clothes on, running his fingers through his hair before leaving his room. -- “The only thing holding me back is you.” Magnus had said, and he couldn't deny that it broke him. Lying in his bed in his loft, he couldn't help but notice how cold it was. His sweet Alexander… Alec meant everything to him, he really did. It pained him to say that and it hurt even worse to know he hurt Alec. If it wasn't three in the morning, he would've called and apologized. Staring at the ceiling, Magnus realized something. He didn't want to sleep alone anymore. Not just that night, but ever. He wanted Alec, curled up close. He wanted Alec, their bodies a mess of limbs as they laughed and joked around before falling asleep. But more importantly, he wanted Alec. Here, with him. He didn't want to miss anymore time with his Alec, not if he could help it. He got to his feet and got dressed, heading for the door. He knew it was crazy, insane even. But he needed to clear things up immediately. -- “Alexander.” Magnus said in surprise as he opened the door to see Alec, his hand lifted as if he was about to knock. “Magnus.” Alec let out a sigh of relief, throwing his arms around the warlock. “I’ve missed you so much.” He whispered quietly, pulling him close. “I’ve missed you too. I’m so sorry.” Magnus murmured back to him, rubbing his back as they stood together in the doorway while they hugged. Once they finally pulled away, Magnus invited Alec inside. “Magnus, I’m so sorry. I-” Alec started before he paused, Magnus’ finger coming up to rest right in front of his lips. “Don't be sorry. I shouldn't have acted on my impulses.” Magnus told him softly, pulling his hand away before moving to sit down on the couch. Alec sat down across from him, biting his lip slightly. “D-Does that mean we’re okay?” He asked quietly, playing with his hands in his lap. “I mean, I know we can't just go from one to one hundred in five minutes, but we can work this out.” Alec said softly. “Right?” That earned a nod from Magnus, causing him to reach out and take Alec’s hands in his own. “Right.” Magnus said softly, squeezing his hands as he made eye contact. “We’ll get through this like we always do. Together.” Magnus said firmly, leaning in to kiss him softly. “I love you.” Alec whispered against his lips before Magnus pulled back, rubbing his thumbs over Alec’s hands. “I love you too.”

Falling for Him

MALEC WEEK: day 1/7 “a moment from the past”

“Magnus.”

Alec’s voice was husky from just waking up, but it was still music to Magnus’ ears. A grin spread on Magnus’ face, making him blink open his eyes and turn his head to face him.

“Good morning.” Magnus said with a soft chuckle, making a small blush appear on Alec’s cheeks. He was so innocent, but Magnus loved it. He would never change any of his and Alec’s relationship, no matter how many ups and downs there were.

Alec smiled softly as he rolled over onto his side, facing Magnus. “Thank you for letting me stay the night. I had a nice time.” He said softly, biting his lip in the way Magnus had always found so adorable.

Magnus chuckled again and shook his head. “Please, don’t thank me. I love having you here, Alexander.” He told him, reaching out to cup Alec’s cheek with a smile.

The two of them had been a mess of limbs on the sofa the night before, only drinking a little as they watched movies. It was after their first date and after Jace had gotten settled in the guest room. A few minutes into movie number four, Alec was snoring softly with his head buried in Magnus’ lap.

Magnus couldn’t help but laugh at the sight of Alec passed out in his lap, but he didn’t want to wake him. He put down his drink on the coffee table before gathering Alec into his arms, carrying him into his bedroom. Alec hadn’t slept with him in bed before, but he didn’t want Alec to be uncomfortable on the couch.

Once he gently tucked Alec in with a smile, he moved to go back to the sofa to sleep, though he was stopped a moment later by a sleepy Alec. “Where are you going?” Alec asked, rubbing his eyes tiredly as he sat up to look at Magnus.

“To sleep on the couch. I wasn’t sure if you’d want me to stay and you were already asleep so I didn’t want to wake you.” Magnus explained, causing Alec to grab his arm a moment later. Alec pulled him into bed and immediately curled up to his side, passing out a few minutes later.

Magnus couldn’t help but watch Alec for a while, smiling happily as they laid there together. He eventually fell asleep as well, curled up with his Alexander. They may have been in the middle of a war, but he was falling for Alec and Alec was falling for him.

But now, they’re surrounded in the morning light and the view of each other, and they knew one thing. Falling for him wasn’t falling at all. It was walking into a house, and suddenly knowing it’s home.

Now the two laid there staring at each other, just basking in the happiness radiating off of them both. Alec needed to get to the Institute and Magnus had a client, but neither of them wanted to move.

“How about breakfast?” Magnus asked and Alec grinned. “Breakfast? Breakfast is great. Yeah.” He said, stuttering slightly as he moved to sit up. Alec ran his fingers through his hair, looking around the room for a moment.

“Is everything okay?” Magnus asked him, sitting up and reaching over to take his hand. Alec nodded, squeezing his hand gently as he looked over. “Everything is… Great. Really. It’s just…”

“Alexander, you can talk to me.” Magnus said softly, squeezing his hand as Alec nodded. “I know. I know I can. I just want you to know I care about you.” Alec said, looking up to meet his eyes.

Magnus smiled and nodded, leaning in to kiss him softly. “I care about you too, Alec.” He murmured, earning a grin from Alec. Alec pressed their lips together again, momentarily pushing Magnus back onto the bed as he deepened the kiss for a few minutes.

They stayed there, a mess of limbs as they kissed each other deeply, laughing in between kisses. After a while there was a knock at the door, making Alec spring up and scramble to his feet. “Coming Jace!” He said, pulling his shirt over his head, causing Magnus to chuckle. “I’ll make breakfast soon.” He called back.

Alec stood there for a moment, biting his lip as he watched Magnus get dressed. He walked over and pulled him in for another kiss. “I really need to get to the Institute. I’ll call you later?” Alec raised an eyebrow.

“Of course. Have a good day, my Alexander.”
