i just wanna say, i love your blog. i love gravity falls and i really enjoyed the analyses you did awhile ago. even though it’s kind of “dead” i still love this fandom

hey, thank you for saying so. I still love it too. I think fans sometimes put a little too much of their enjoyment stock in the duration of a piece of media—how long it lasts, then how long fans are still talking about it. the wonderful thing about Gravity Falls is, it’s all about nostalgia; for the last two weeks, I’ve been reveling in that on my own. it took me a little while to get to this point, to switch my brain from “I love this thing so much, I don’t wanna let it go” to “I loved this, and I love how it made me feel, and I love getting to remember it.”

that’s just my own experience with this show and this fandom, not that you gotta be in the same place—feel however you feel. I suppose what I mean to say is, that it makes you feel something at all, no matter what that feeling is, sure is something lovely in itself.

hey you dont know me at all but i get really emotional about fandom history being lost when websites go down and we all know that tumblr wont be around forever. thank you for backing up the cipherhunt stuff, seriously.

hey, thanks for this message. I got a little misty at “fandom history.” To me the original posts were preservations themselves—you can’t go back and experience the event, after all. You can only tell stories about it. one of the things about the event that still wows me.

thanks for the feedback. I’m glad preserving those posts will be useful to future fans. I always get a bit nostalgic around this time of year. I always hope my old posts give others that feeling as well.

Cipherhunt log: archive

the Cipherhunt Wordpress archive is now complete and publicly available at hollycrowned.home.blog. all posts made during Cipher Hunt (including asks) are there, along with relevant posts made in the few years since and a few of Alex’s old interviews. thanks for being patient while I took the time to set up this site!

a contact page is also available on the site. if you ever have reason to contact me about my posts or the archive, you can leave a comment there or email me at hollycrowned at gmail.

hello again everyone.

the Cipherhunt archive is almost finished. provided everything goes well I’ll be posting the URL later this evening.

thank you so much for the well wishes you’ve sent me since I’ve left this space. they mean the world to me. I hope, somehow, you are finding your own small ways to feel good this summer.

happy 6/18,

Holly

all is well (so goodbye, goodbye)

I have some bittersweet news. this blog, and related accounts across social media, is being retired.

I want to thank all of you who have been supportive of me, one way or another, over these past several years. some of your names I recognize from having followed me since I first logged to this platform some eight years ago. more of you stuck around after Cipher Hunt, and for you I’m grateful too. to those newer folks who have hardly seen me post since you’ve followed me, I’m sorry. I hope you can see that this decision has been a long time coming.

if you have ever sent me a kind word, or tipped me for my writing, or donated when I needed help: thank you. I won’t be forgetting it. I’ll pay it forward whenever I can.

under the cut I’ve answered some anticipated questions. as you’ll read, I’ll be around for a bit to answer anything I haven’t here, so for a final time: feel free to drop your messages in my ask box.

thank you all again. ∆ <3

i'm just saying, when i die in mysterious and unexplained circumstances i want you all to make sure that everybody knows it. instead of saying how i was "a friend to everyone" and that i "lit up a room" when i entered it i want people to shake their heads while muttering that i "asked too many questions for my own good" and talk about how they "warned me that i was getting in way over my head" and that i "always had a knack for finding trouble" wherever i went. if you don't make me a local urban legend you've failed me.
